So one of the things I have been working on subtlety is that in all the tales and deeds of the party when told to outsiders the Hobbit's role seems to get lost or misattributed to other members of the party. My goal is to use our story to show that perhaps the innante ability of Hobbits to not be seen manifests itself in more ways than just not being seen. In fact they are not present in the Old tales because of the few of them that participated they managed to be forgotten and worked out. I think this plays into the nature of Hobbits in Middle-earth, as well as keeps them under the radar from a cannonical approach. My goal is to show that it took the destruction of the ring, and the red book of Westmarch, to finally give them a solid place in the Tale of Years.

Just some random thoughts from a fellow player.

Sorry Paul, but I think I am calling for a permanent Shadow point for this. :csu:

If you don't think that is fair, feel free to give me your challenge - I am happy to listen.  :)

I'll reply here, since we're establishing a general game precedent.  A permanent Shadow point seems appropriate, though I personally wouldn't apply an accompanying Flaw in the absence of a bout of madness.

Agreed

Am I right in thinking that Round 3 will be us moving through the tunnel, with the stabby-stabby starting up again when we reach the other end in Round 4?  If not, Doug is probably waiting for us to say that we've got where we're going.

Sorry, guys - didn't mean to leave this hanging. I just have a few things going on this week with kids back to school, my wife's birthday, and other stuff.

Anyway, I will be bringing you guys into the next barrow in Round 3. I was just leaving it in round 2 in case there was anything more you guys wanted to dialogue, or narrate.

I will get a new post up in a bit.

The only thing I have been debating to myself is that when in the dark (Denizens of the Dark pg.232), the thing's Attribute Level is already supposed to be doubled for all rolls, so would it be doubled in this regard. I chose to say no on that.
A quick note here so I don't break the flow of the fight: You've been adding a +10 attribute bonus to the wight-king's attacks.  I haven't looked at its stats, but halving this means that it's actual attribute bonus is +5.  You rolled a six for one of its attack dice (damn your eyes!) so it gets bonus damage.  6 (weapon) +5 (attribute) = 11.  Arbogast only had 9 Endurance remaining, so he's both Wounded and unconscious in a place where neither is good news.

If he survives this, Caewin is going to owe him.

Yea, his attack is favoured and so he gets his Attribute level added - but Denizens of the Dark doubles it while they are in their barrow.

I showed Arbogast had 16 END points going into round 3. He lost 10 in his first attack and then 11 more. I see 5 END leftover. What am I missing?

You're right.  Somehow I got his Hope and Endurance scores confused!

Ceawin owes us...perhaps all the treasure in this place. Murder hobos cant live on a measely two points of treasure! How are we going to gain standing and be filled with great renown?

I will get the final post up for Round 4 later tonight, and we'll see if there is a need for a round 5.

Quote from: tomcat on Aug 02, 2016, 11:53 AMTo the shield-maiden was given a token that hung upon a leather thong. "This is blessed by the Powers! They will show you the light when it is most needed, and strength will be fortified within your heart. And to you all, remember this cant...for it may save your lives..."

And so Mother Leyna began to sing, or chant, words of power:

Cold hand, cold bone,
Spirits darkened under stone;
Ne'er seeing morning light,
Always cleaving passing life;
But Shadows' hold cannot contain,
Powered words that shall refrain;
The strength of Arnú whom ye forsake,
Will'st cause your darkened spell to break

"Forget them not, these words...they may bring you home."
It occurs to me that the song/talisman combination would probably have made that all a lot easier.  We chose the way of pain.
