Three of the companions raced forward in search of the cave that Dim and Bin had called home. Above them, flew the raven, Magrac, his eyes trying to peer through the heavy rainfall in search of a trail. Left behind Esgalwen sat beside Grimbeorn who had lost consciousness. She told her fellows to return for them if they found this dry place that they pursued.

Muted by the rain, Arbogast gave a cry when he finally found a rough path that had to have been dug by heavy, plodding feet. Bandy nocked arrow to string and took up a position just behind the man, himself running to keep up. The path weaved between large outcrops of bare stone as it climbed higher into the lower foothills of the Misty Mountains. The Fire-watcher saw that the path suddenly began to switch-back up a steep incline to the top of cliff, whereupon sat a cave entrance that flickered with the faint light of a fire.

:ooc: the pic is not exactly what I see in my mind, but it gives you a basic idea. Imagine it greener with grass that grows up the sides of the mountain's lower vales and the cave goes into the mountain side.

Bandy nodded to the woodman and taking his responsability as lookout man serioously edged around him. The hobbit put each unshod foot carefully in front of the other as silently as he could. Making wide steps to the side he attempted to peer as deeply into the cave has he could, without moving to close.

Stealth is favored for me, and I'll burn a Hope to add 5 to the roll if that helps anything. Stupid clumsy dwarf   >:p

I've been burning Hope like it's a renewable resource lately - anyone mind if I use a fellowship point for this one (or retroactively for my hunting full to find the place)?

:ooc: I would save the Hope points - even with the 5 added, Rorin fails, so any points spent at this time are moot.

I'll post again tonight. Getting ready right now for my VTT game at 8:00, on Roll20.

:ooc: cool about the miscellaneous rolls. I know I have asked about it in the past, but I didn't want you guys to think I am always driving your PC's.

As I stated before, no sense in anybody using Hope here as it won't make a difference. Rorin is not quiet.  ;D

If you marked a Hope off for this skill check, you can put it back on.

The companions scrambled up the rocky slope and approached the cave from either side of the entrance. Though they tried to be quiet, Rorin's weight due to armor caused a branch that he was scrambling over to snap. The popping sound it made was very clear in the rain-filled dusk.

"Bin? Dim?" inquired a low, rumbling voice from the cave. "Is that you? Did you find some good meats for me to put in this pot of potatoes?"

Thinking quickly, Arbogast motions Bandy off towards a stony outcropping.  "Hide well, keen-eyed archer.  I shall do the same nearby."  To Rorin, he says "we shall not be safe while another troll is so close.  Raise its ire and draw it out.  Bandobras and I shall wait in ambush."

:ooc: Stealth roll to see whether there's any hiding places nearby worth speaking about.

Rorin opened his mouth to protest, but Bandy and Arbogast were already in the process of taking up hiding spots. He rolled his eyes, gripped his hammer, and strode towards the opening of the cave.

"Aye! Din and Bim found some good meats, but the meats didn't feel like being your supper tonight. Din and Bim are dead and I'll give you but one chance to run from this place. The choice is yours. Leave now, or die to the bite of dwarven steel."

:ooc:

Obviously I'm tryinig to intimidate him, but I'm not sure what skill I'd use for that, i'd guess either inspire or persuade, and I'm better at inspire so I'm going to roll that.
