Three Tears - Round 5

Situation: The battle is fully engaged.

Situational Modifiers: The area within the orange circle is the only area where attacks are not penalized by a -5 Darkness penalty. If you wish to attack any character outside the orange ring (ranged combat), a successful Observe (Spot) TN 12 is required (1 Action and -5 Darkness penalty applies) to see the target. A failure at this Observe test penalizes by DOS: -3, -5, -7 and is cumulative with the -5 Darkness penalty. Any character at a higher elevation than his opponent receives a +3 advantageous position bonus to attack.

Easterling / Warg Stats: This is a major battle so some of the baddies are standard hit points, so be ready. Mook health levels for the minor baddies... 5 hits for Easterlings TN 10 defence, 6 for Wargs TN 11 defence

Physical Modifiers: Ranged attacks against Sagath will be affected by -3 for shields and -2 movement

Initiative:

Edrahil 10
Dirnhael 9
Fengel 9
Éothraim 9
Galudir 8
Easterlings 8
Nain 6
Koskas 6
Durgil

OOC: Due to the nature of the attack from Galudir (i.e. blind backstab), I am going to multiply the damage by 1.5 for a total of 27. If Galudir had the rogue ability Treacherous Blow and made a Called-shot, I would increase the damage even more - but that just gives you something to work for with your advancements.  ;D Great attack though Nikitas!  :>

Now, Werewolves only take half damage from unenchanted weapons to we reduce the damage from 27 to 14, minus out 3 for armour and we get a total of 11.

The following text relates to the last round but is the lead in to Round 5.

Again pain screamed through Koskas' body as Galudir's blade entered his back just below the right shoulder blade. The wolf-thing wheeled his gaze from Dirnhael and turned a hate-filled stare on the rogue, all the while a baleful howl echoed into the night.

Somewhere off in the shadowed distance, Dirnhael heard the feeble cry of Edrahil, "Ware the chariots! They push into the ravine!"

The cry could not be heard by the drivers of the wains due to the rumbling of hooves and the clatter of their vehicles over the uneven terrain. They pushed the horses that drew the chariots harder, although each driver feared that at any moment they could break a wheel, snap their yoke, or the animal could go down with a broken leg. Still they drove on, drawing weapons as they came.

Edrahil watched on in vain as the chariots came, unable to do anything to stop them.

OOC: I can do nothing with Edrahil this round due to him being at such a low negative... -5 for wounds, -3 for spell in force, -6 for two castings. That -14 plus his +8 to magic garners him a -6 modifier and with no courage, he can't even pull off a potential TN 10 spell (Blinding Flash), which would have been great! I can see the first charioteer being hit with a flash of light, or even the horse, and wrecking his wain - the rest behind slamming in and having an awful pile-up!  :(

No sense in rolling it though... so next in the initiative line-up may go.

His plan had worked - at least for one fleeting moment.
As the beast-Koskas wheeled around to face the wily man that Dirnhael knew as Thermon, he decided that he would have no better chance to attack.
Were this a man, Dirnhael would have thought twice about stabbing at someone's back, but this was no man - it was a fell creature, nothing more, and Dirnhael sought to end the abomination of its existence.

Fengel heard Edrahil's warning, and he could even hear the chariots banging on the rocky ground.  His company were making quick work of the Sagath but with this new threat he knew not how things would turn.  He thought then of Dirnhael, where was he?  He should have been fighting alongside him by now.  "Has my thirst for vengeance caused my friend to fall in lands that he should not have been in at all?" he thought.  He pushed harder to slay the remaining Sagath before him, hoping that he might have opportunity to scan the field of battle for Dirnhael.

The fight with the man before him was not going the way Koskas wanted. The werewolf's body bled from multiple wounds and he felt himself tiring, and now there was another warrior for him to deal with. He knew if he staggered, he would die in these hills... and that was not his intent.

The mage shapeshifter's keen ears could discern the sound of the chariotteers coming through the vale. That would be his escape! He grinned a nasty grin at Dirnhael even as he staggered back from the cruel stroke of Vorandúr.

OOC: Hey Paul, the first charioteer will not come out of the ravine until the beginning of Round 6, just so you know. Remember too that you need to include darkness penalties in your rolls for anyone outside the circle of orange.

Quote from: sdrotarOOC: Will these attacks take place before Koskas' parries due to Galudir's Initiative?

OOC: Essentially Galudir's attack would fall simultaneously on Koskas as yours, but the werewolf doesn't see Galudire as much a threat (at least his weapon) as he does Dirnhael, so my parries will remain as posted. As far as missing GoB's rolls on last round... I am going to leave stuff as it is, but I am bringing back to life one of the Eothraim warriors... just because I have no desire to untie the knot. It will all work out next round anyway.

Koskas takes the attack from Galudir

Damage = 20 divided by two = 10 -3 armour = 7 damage
