• Hathcyn 2/2

Situation Modifiers:
• The trolls have the initiative.

Physical Modifiers (complications):

Not the trolls' rageful bellows nor the stones they cast down cease for a moment.  "Where are they finding these?" Hathcyn calls as he binds his spear in his cloak, the better to free his hands.  "They don't seem the types to have cairns prepared in case a lost wanderer would chance this way!"

"Hush!" Arbogast hisses nearby.  "They cannot see us, but may have the cunning to throw at the sound of your voice!"

As if in perverse response, the prone form of Beorn gives a loud groan, and another stony volley comes raining down.

:ooc: One troll (ol' Tusky) is throwing blindly at where he thinks Hathcyn is.  Stony is targeting Beorn.  Both take a -2 penalty to their attacks because they're hindered by the mist, but try not to get hit - those stones are big!

More rocks crash on the mountainside or cleave limbs from larch-trees, but come not near the companions.  Arbogast, his shield upon his back and his axe belted at his hip, nods to Hathcyn and begins to climb.

Nimble as a mountain goat, the Fire-watcher finds holds for hands and steps for feet and surges up the bluff as if born to it.  Near the top, he flattens himself against the bare rock, listening hard to place the stomping troll-feet, for it will avail none were he to rise to the top only to be clubbed back down.

:ooc: I forgot that I'd already said otherwise.  Fortunately, it doesn't matter much.  Arbogast is up and (with an extraordinary success) will crest the bluff next round without needing another roll.  Tom, the same applies for Hathcyn: extra degrees of success will speed his progress too.

tomcat

Heeding Arbogast's words and making herself as quiet as possible, the opposite could not be said of her opponents. The huffing and grunting of the trolls gave her a direction to let fly her arrow.

This time, the troll appears prepared for a shot in return, for though Esgalwen is sure that her arrow finds its mark, it occasions little more than a deep grunt from the troll, and another thrown stone that sails over her head.

:ooc: These things are Hideously Tough, so the Stony troll will spend a Hate point rather than take the damage.
