:~~: One of the Woodmen is slain. If rolled again in the following round, Lafdag is gravely wounded.
1 - 3The allies are hard-pressed to hold the enemy back. One of the Woodmen is wounded – or, if any are already wounded, then one of them is slain.
4 - 6The Woodmen hold their line and keep fighting.
7 - 9The allies fight bravely, pushing the enemy back. Basilisk blood spills into the dell. If this result is rolled twice in a row, then the allies slay one of the basilisk!
10One of the basilisk is slain.

Even as Esgalwen raised Nimronyn into the moonlit night, the basilisks closed in on the Woodmen. A dark shape raced in and one of Arbogast's folk cried out in horror and pain, as the monster struck. The man stumbled and then disappeared into the mist, a terrible crunching noise and a stifled scream was followed by shock and silence.

Seeing another of the hulking creatures, the Ranger closed in and slashed with her sword in both hands.

Arbogast strides into the mist, to stand shoulder to shoulder with his uncle and father.  He expects to see renewed hope in their faces as he does so, but instead is shocked to find looks of horror.  For a moment, he is shaken, unable to make sense of what he is seeing, but all too quickly it becomes clear.  These men are the fathers of grown sons, and a cripple.  They went seeking the Werewolf expecting that it would slay them, and had perhaps no expectation or hope of harming it in return.  Their despair is only deepened by our presence - by my presence - here.

From this seed of understanding germinates a sullen fury.  Why, Uncle?  Why, Father?  What horrors have you faced, that all hope has fled from you?  That my own kin would give themselves up to the Shadow so readily!  Damn you both, then!

He turns his gaze into the mist, where the fell things of the Wood prowl and hiss.  Without a word, he chooses his moment and strikes.

:ooc: Arbogast will be in Open stance for now, as usual, and will attack the closest basilisk - nothing fancy, just good, old-fashioned killing.

The Beorning understands naught these creatures but knows they must be defeated by blade and stalwart heart.  His wrath begins to burn within as he gives a great bellow and wades into the fray with back to his friend and axe winging in great arcs to both hit and fend off foe.

Morirúsë strode forward into the fray, and the drawing of his sword was like the sudden burst of light in the clearing. The mist seemed to part, the stars seemed to be brighter, and the sword itself seemed to sing a song of battle. The rune carved silver blade flashed and the elf looked hollow faced and wrathful. A cry burst from him and even the darkened evil branches that surrounded the dell seemed to recoil from his cry.

"Atanatári, auta i lómë!"

In a blur his two hands brought the sword down upon the beast.

:ooc: Morirúsë will attack B2. He will be using his Wrath of Fingolfin ability to Intimidate Foe from a forward or Open stance and still make an attack, he will also be using his sword two handed.

:ooc: Cool, Paul! Yea - I forgot about Cleaving (or at least my thinking was it happened on great success or better). I need to add the additional damage for both you and Morirúsë.

Yea, Tom - I forgot to change the names on the second set of rolls.

Results

• B1 poison had no affect on either PC

• B2 attacked Morirúsë and achieved a great success for 10 END loss

• B3 poison affected Esgalwen who is now Poisoned (Wounded); she will become paralyzed after 4 combat rounds and will not be able to move again until the following day when she must make a Valour roll TN 14. If failed, she will remain paralyzed and whither and die (unless she can be saved). For purposes of expediency, I am going to roll her Valour test now, but she will be paralyzed after 4 rounds until the next game day. Your characters will not know how to help her without making a TN 18 Lore test.
