:ooc: I never specified which tell Arbogast was engaging.  He would be riding up at, or near, the head of the party - possibly close to Esgalwen?  If Bandy is close by, then he's probably moving in to protect him and will engage Bin (I think).  Otherwise he'll fight Dim.

Another boulder flew through the air as Dim and Bin charged towards the Company, but Grimbeorn stepped clear of where the stone landed, readying his axe as he did. Bandobras was far more lucky. The Hobbit's arrow arched up and then back down towards the two trolls and found Bin's eye where it drove deep. The troll cried out in pain while trying to pluck the small missile from his face. Unfortunately, the creature's large fingers merely broke the arrow, leaving the shaft behind.

Though grievous, the wound only enraged Bin and he continued the charge towards the companion's line, with Dim right beside him. The Beorning, along with Arbogast, Rorin and Esgalwen were ready with their weapons.

"FOR GONDOR!" cried the Dúnadan, as she struck.

:ooc: Moving the two attacks from the previous thread forward:

• Arbogast rolls a :g: and 9 for 21, which is a success. Bin suffers 5 Endurance loss and must make a TN 18 protection roll or take another injury

• Rorin rolls a 27 and gets an Extraordinary success. He does Dim 20 Endurance loss! Unfortunately, his Feat die was a 7, so Dim does not need to make a Protection roll.

:ooc: I need to change the result on your roll, Paul - Bin is Weary and so each of his Success die are 0 unless they roll a 4 or greater, so he only achieved a 15!

Tell us how you kill the big troll with an arrow sticking out of his eye.  ;D

:ooc: You achieve a Great Success so you reduce him by 3 Hate Points.

This game is supposed to be all about narrative from both the GM and the players, and I have been forgetting to let you guys fill in the story.

So, Matt...tells us how Grimbeorn greatly succeeds at intimidating a troll. Have fun and make it really cool!  ;D

Blinded by the Hobbit's arrow and the rain, and maddened with the pain, Bin's charge becomes a stumble.  An unexpected pothole trips him, and he goes down with enough force to spray muddy water over half the fellowship.  He bellows like a wounded bull, equal parts rage and blind panic.

Wasting no time, Arbogast steps forward, plants one foot on the troll's heavy brow and, with a lightning-fast overhead chop, buried his axe in Bin's skull.  The troll's roar becomes a dull, flatulent sound as the weight of his corpse crushes the air from his lungs.

His grin wide with the furor of battle, Arbogast tugs at his axe.  But as Dim and Esgalwen clash not two places beside him, he finds himself unable to move it...

:ooc: *grumbles about gm's and the legitimacy of their parentage*

Grimbeorn, a man coming into his lineage, did more than just enlarge in stature but his appearance almost seemed to bristle with the visage a bear -- hair a little bushier, his hands turned feral like paws, and eyes gave way to a primal fire.   He didn't even move out of the way to avoid the new rock hurled his way.  Spreading his arms wide and a menacing, slavering grin spread across his face, he chuckles.  "A meal you say? You are welcome to try, brute."

Bandy saw the troll cut a trough in the mud as he slid to a halt. The halfling drew and noched another letting it fly against the remaining troll.

Grimbeorn caused the troll to pause, intimidated by his presence. Dim looked to his fallen companion and spoke, "BIN! C'MON AND GET UP. WE'S GOTTA SMASH THEM - DEY HAVE A STINKIN' DWARF WIT 'EM!"

Silence was all that came from his dead companion and thus enraged Dim who overcame his fear and smashed into Grimbeorn with his club.
