Situation: The Fellowship, along with a host of Woodmen, is confronting a band of many score goblins, and must win through to move on to Black Tarn Hall.

Combat Advantage dice:
• Esgalwen 0/0
• Grimbeorn 1/2
• Hathcyn 1/1

Situation Modifiers:
• The companions have the initiative.

Physical Modifiers (complications):
• The Woodmen, and the companions, have spread out and the goblins are in amongst their line.  Until the Woodmen can consolidate, nobody can enter a Rearward stance.
• The forest goblins are as adept as the Woodmen at making use of the forest terrain to protect themselves and confuse their enemies.  All goblins' Parry scores are doubled.

:ooc: That is a 15 :%: success for 12 :<3: loss to both my attackers.

Esgalwen stepped back as the goblin that she stabbed quickly flashed its own iron towards her face. To her left, another goblin wearing a leather mask tried to flank her with its own attack. The Ranger snarled in anger at the curs and Nimronyn slashed in a wide arc, catching both in a grisly slice that took off both of their heads.

She turned to find any other enemy, even as the two lopped heads thumped to the ground.

Hathcyn moved quickly with growing skill with his long spear. It was an odd weapon for a Beorning, hence his name among the Beornings was synonymous with the unique weapon he carried. Those who took a moment to watch him marveled at how he handled on foot a weapon that once was wielded by the horsemen of the north. The leaf shaped blade stabbed, the shaft deflected, and should both unavail him his body stood between Grimbeorn and his foes.

"Tarn!" He cried as he danced the song of axe and spear.

The clash of arms and the crashing of underbrush mingles with the screams of Men and goblins as many meet their final moments.  All about the companions, warriors are fighting and fleeing, perishing and triumphing.  Sore wounded though they are, the goblins facing Hathcyn and Grimbeorn fight on, their eyes wide and teeth bared as they stab and slash with their stone spears.

The breath leaves the Longspear's body as the goblin's spear rams home just beneath his breastbone.  As the creature sees the stiffened leather scales hold against the spear's stone head, though, it utters a piteous cry and, dropping the shaft, turns to flee.
