As the troll-club knocks Rorin briefly aside, Arbogast steps before Lurg.  "Beast of the dark places, test yourself now against a man of Mirkwood!"

To his side, he sees erosion regain his footing and ready another strike.  He hopes now simply to survive the troll's attention.

:ooc: I'm shifting to Forward stance and making a Battle roll to intimidate the troll (hah!).

Bandy quickly drew his fifth arrow, starting to wonder how quickly he could burn through his arrows and how long the journey might be. He was not yet ready to test his courage and his blade against so great a creature. He heard the maddening cry from Arbogast, and was uncertain whathe was trying to say. The attack seemed to unhinge his companion. Taking steady aim he hoped for the best and fired again.

"Damn you, beast" Arbogast cries as the troll's brutal countenance betrays the pain of his injuries.  "Damn this place!  Damn this rain!"

He casts his uncle's shield down on the hillside, where it vanishes in the late afternoon shadow, and begins swinging his axe in both white-knuckled hands.  "Damn my spiteful kindred and their petty concerns!  Damn Caewin and his idiot plans!  And damn a troll that will not fight me!"

:ooc: Yeah, tempt that fate, Arbogast.  Tempt it!
:csu: for the consequences of his bout of madness.
