Situation: The company is waylaid by a group of hired swords - 5 block the road, while 3 others sought to lay ambush

Situational Modifiers: Archer X5 is Injured -3

NPC swordsmen will have standard Hit Points.

Physical Modifiers: The snowy ground is slippery and will impose -3 penalty to ALL physical actions (except archery). Combat from atop a mount will provide an advantageous position bonus of +2 to any PC that is fighting against a non-mounted opponent, but understand that fighting while on horse back requires the animal have the Steady ability otherwise there will be an additional -2 penalty to ALL combat actions.

Initiative (for round 2):
Dirnhael (+5) 14
Pethron (+2) 13
Fengel (+3) 10
Mercenaries (+2) 10

The Company drove into the archers on the east side of the road and both Dirnhael and Fengel made quick work of their opponents - Pethron left his man bleeding and at a disadvantage due to position. But even as they cut down their attackers, more of the mercenaries closed with them bringing swords and shields to bare.

Vidugavin decided he didn't like what he had heard and mounted his horse and rode to investigate.

Hearing the other riders approaching from the road, Pethron decided it would be best to remain in the saddle, despite his mount's lack of combat experience (not to mention his own). He wheeled his horse towards the archer nearest him, swinging his sword and hoping to finish off the injured man or at least drive him away.

Dirnhael saw the two mercenaries ride in on him and brought his weapon and shield up to engage them. The horse under him made some hesitant moves, both from the activity around it and the slippery fresh snow that lay on the ground - the Dúnadan masterfully held himself in the saddle with his legs.

Fengel spun Heostor around and rode hard into the two mounted opponents.  Again Cerduil sung as it sliced through the air.

:ooc: Give me the defense rolls for Pethron and Fengel and we can move to the new round I have up. Zehnwaters, the other player has never shown so we will just be bringing in your PC... I am going to change the scene to allow you to show in Round 3 instead of Round 6.

Pethron managed to turn his mount to face the oncoming horseman, but was unable to defend against the flurry of blows from the attacker. The scribe grunted with pain as the slashes found their mark.

The warriors moved with precision, avoiding Fengel's sword and then taking the offensive.  Managing to block one attack Fengel found himself twice feeling the sting of a blade.  With the abilities of these men now known, Fengel feared for there new friend Pethron.  With a grimace he prepared to press the battle further.
Doug I couldn't remember how to access my character to add the injury, sorry.
