There!  The aethling of the Bear-folk sees his foe falter as orcs fall upon the left hand and the right.  Like the head of a ram he surges forward, the thick hands of the orc clutching vainly at his shield as the thrall of the Shadow is borne over and Bear Claw splits mail and breast-bone alike, rising again slick with gore.

Esgalwen feels, rather than hears, the passage of an unseen orcish sword by her ear, but by the time she hears the piteous cry of its victim, the current of the battle has already carried her away and she sees only a flash of bright hair falling as a shieldmaiden of the Woodmen is cut down.  Hathcyn is able to behold for a moment Oderic, his axe swinging in great arcs, drive an orc four paces backward before it blocks his blow and the two are locked together body to body.  Then nearer foes, shaken by the ferocity of the Mannish onslaught, are striking back.

:ooc: The orcs fight on (though the number of dice I'm rolling is a lot more reasonable now):

Cackling Orc (TN 15)
:00: 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 3d6+4 : 1, 3, 1 + 4, total 9

Rusty-helmed Orc (TN 15)
:00: 1d12 : 5, total 5
Rolled 3d6+4 : 1, 4, 4 + 4, total 13

Red-eyed Orc (TN 24)
:00: 1d12 : 8, total 8
Rolled 3d6+4 : 6, 3, 1 + 4, total 14

Spitting Orc (TN 24)
:00: 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 3d6+4 : 2, 5, 5 + 4, total 16

Bloody-shielded Orc (TN 19)
:00: 1d12 : 10, total 10
Rolled 3d6+4 : 5, 3, 5 + 4, total 17

:ooc: A somewhat more bearable result - four Endurance lost by both Esgalwen and Hathcyn, who needs another Protection roll (TN 12):

:00: 1d12 : 3, total 3
Rolled 3d6 : 3, 3, 3, total 9

Not only does Grimbeorn come through the round unscathed, but I've realised that I didn't factor his defensive fighting into his TN last round, so he didn't lose the four Endurance I docked him last time.  I've put it back on.
