Smelling fresh meat in this ravine as well, a gutkurr lumbered forward towards Team Derecho in hopes of a meal.

It hadn't taken Hammer many months of combat to learn that when you were in it you slept light and kept your weapon close.  His eyes snapped open when the screaming started and he could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins as he scanned for an enemy and braced 'Vera' to fire on whatever was out there.

Hammer has low light vision as long as he's sleeping in his armor.
Ranged heavy assault blaster rifle* +9 (5d10+7) with Burst Fire and braced if he can see anything to fire on at this time.

:ooc: Hey Stefan, yes Hammer is in his helmet so no troubles there. Because he is being wakened from sleep (even if not a deep sleep), he will need to use a MOVE action to draw up his blaster rifle. He will be able to brace it on the top of the canopied speeder but it will have to wait until round 2 - so I am going to use the attack rank below. Remember, you are welcome to use either dice roller for your PC - the one on the menu bar above (roll and cut/paste) or the one that makes it part of your post (dice icon above the smileys) which I am using below. If you use the in-Post roller do not edit your post or it will throw a tamper warning on your dice roll.

MOVE - Hammer stands from prone
SWIFT - activates weapon
STANDARD - fires on south gutkurr
:00: DC 17 Ranged heavy assault blaster rifle* +7 (5d10+8) with Burst Fire and Point Blank Shot

The night lit up with a roar of blaster fire from Hammer's heavy assault rifle - the blaster bolts reaching out and tearing into the carapace of the gutkurr. The monster bellowed in anger and agony as it stomped forward.

:ooc: Gutkurr 1 takes 22 damage 22/122

The sounds of animals screaming had been a wake-up call for all of them it seemed as Haywire quickly woke up, grabbed his rifle from next to him, and stood up to watch Hammer doing the same a mere moment quicker firing on a beast approaching their camp.  Switching off the safety he'd check around to locate any others that Hammer wasn't unloading upon.

:ooc: Move: Grab Weapon, Standard(swapped for move): Stand up, Swift: click off safety.  Since we're sleeping in gear, all of us clones should be equipped with low-light gear.  Sorry, took me a while to respond[at top of init], been busy a bit.  Also, prone against beasts = bad time.  Since they're melee attackers you don't want to give them the +5 to hit if they close with you.

:ooc: No problem, Zil... you'll find my boards and games can be non-rushed, but we always show up.  ;)

Callowmoryne

Longshot snatched up his rifle next to him and assumed a kneeling position. Shaking the dream out of his head, he sighted Hammers target and fired.

:ooc:a little rusty on the mechanics Douglas. I'm assuming I don't have enough moves to aim or use a skill. It may take me a bit to get the hang of this.  ;)

Keeping his weapon trained on the beast approaching up from the southeast, Booth moved also to cut in between in an effort to give his men a bit more time to rally themselves from their beds. "We got two more about to crest over the hill," Booth called out as he moved into position. "West and south."

Hitting his spot, Booth felt his feet move into a steading stance, felt his finger squeeze the trigger, felt the butt of his assualt rifle rock against his soldier, and watched the blaster fire streak towards the closest attacker.

:ooc:Looking to have Booth move to Q-12 (if possible in a single move) and then attack Gutkurr #1.

Attack on Gunkurr #1: 1d20+11 : 9 + 11, total 20

Damage, if successful: 3d8+5 : 2, 4, 5 + 5, total 16

:ooc:I believe Booth firing from Q-12 should also give Haywire, Martel and Mitts a +1 to their REF saves due to Cover Fire

:ooc: LOL! You're getting the rules fine - you're right about not being able to do a special feat, but Point Blank shot always applies when you are within 30 squares (I think with your rifle).

As for the natural 1 - yes, that is an auto miss. Saga really doesn't have a fumble function, but your shot is a miss.

Suddenly, Mitts was woken up by the sound of intense screaming echoing in his head. Disoriented, he looked around to find the source of the disturbance and found himself facing some hideous creatures that seemed to have been taken out from a nightmare. Without a second thought, he focused himself and prepared to fend off the beasts.
It was almos mandatory in Derecho not only to sleep in your armor, but with your gun in your hands. "Always be prepared" seemed to be their motto, and even if it was uncomfortable it was still better that being caught with their guard down. With a swift move the soldier stood up from the sitting position in wich he was sleeping, with his back leaned against the Arrow, and turn around to face the beast coming from the south, taking cover behind the vehicle. Almost without aiming he took a shot at the incoming creature.

:ooc: Booth hits gutkurr 1 for 16 damage - 38/122

Booth extends a +1 cover fire Reflex bonus to Martel, Mitts and Haywire until the beginning of his next turn

Mitts missed his target

Not close enough to attack, all three gutkurrs MOVE x2 to close distance.

The gutkurr that had just torn a palloo-beast apart turned at the noise of Derecho team firing on its companion. A long leg and haunch hung from its jaws waggling as the monster turned. Its primitive intelligence told it that the pack was threatened and so it ran to the sound and light. To the south, the third gutkurr also hastily moved to confront the troopers.
