Situation: Outside the docking bay environmental doors, the party is attacked by the assassin Hacks. Inside the bay, Kara is inside the Aegis.

Situational Modifiers: none

Physical Modifiers: There are crates and other debris available for cover that will deduct a -5 to all attacks made at anyone using cover.

Initiative:
Kaida (+11) - 28
Brim (+7) - 18
Britton (+9) - 18
Kara (+6) - 12
Sam (+6) - 11
Caden (+5) - 11
Ulric (+7) - 11
Hacks (+6) - 11
Sallo (+13) - 14 (even though he beat out Kara's init, the nat 1 gives hims a last position)

Kara watched as a bolt from Sallo's blaster struck the bulkhead of the Aegis and caused a pop and his of burnt electronics. Still, she was now safely inside with plenty of cover. The ship's entrance door was open but could be closed with the tap of a button.

Ulric ran at Hacks, rapidly closing the distance between the two, when the clone trooper opened fire. Blaster bolts filled the area around him, but the Jedi quickly activated his concealed lightsaber. A brilliant green bloom of light hissed to life and Ulric deflected the fire harmlessly away. He continued his charge.

The other party members could see Hacks from their covered positions and all wondered if this were the only threat, or just a distraction.

Is there a button I can slam to close the hatch?

:ooc: Also, remember that everyone (within LOS) gets +1 to attack this encounter from Kaida's feat activated last round.

"I'll flank him!" Kaida called out to Britton, her face set in grim determination. "Cover me!" And she began to sprint in a crouch across the broad avenue, dodging screaming and cowering pedestrians, leaping over burning debris. If she could get an angle on him, distract him, and help finish him off quickly, it'd even the score some before his friends arrived. She doubted even a vaunted clone trooper would have attacked their group without friends nearby. Yet there had been an explosion and then nothing except the lone cloner firing at Ulric.

:ooc: Doing a move (to stand up). Doing a second move in place of standard (6 squares in straight line "west" from where she is), (assuming "north" is the top of the map). For her Swift action she'll activate her Inspire Haste talent. On one ally's turn that's in LOS, he/she can do a standard action as the move action instead. This essentially allows someone two standard actions. (We played it this way the last encounter in Skies of Bespin, but looking more closely at the book, the actual text says the ally can make a "skill check", which is kind of lame to just limit it to skill checks in my opinion, but you're call whether or not it's used for attack actions as well. Either way she'll put it on Ulric, and he can use it as he sees fit. If not another attack, maybe do a standard action force skill as a move action?).

If Sam had eyebrows, one would be raised as Ulric drew his lightsaber. Jedi?...Logged. Appreciative that he wasn't the target, Sam moved ahead to the cover of the heavy lifter and fired a shot at the Clone.

:ooc: +1 Force point if I'm close. And by heavy lifter I meant the red vehicle southwest of Sam.

:ooc: Yes there is.

No need for a Force Point from Sam - Hacks is hit by the blaster fire for 13 damage.

"Kaida, wait-" Britton said, but ended with a growl of frustration.  Instead he drew his gun and laid down suppression fire.

Kara slammed her hand down on the hatch button hoping it would close quickly.  She aimed the blaster down the hatch and prepared to fire if Sallo came running up.

:ooc:

Ready action: shoot if Sallo charges up the ramp.

Corbin Sallo watched as the access hatch closed and sealed, then the landing ramp slowly raised on its hydraulic lifts. That opportunity had been blown, but why? The docking bay, though frantic with activity, had yet to show any sign of decompression. In fact, that blue haze of the environmental energy screen was plain to see covering the entrance to the bay from outer space.

So, what was going on? Sallo looked at the Aegis and then roved his eyes across the bay. He saw the dark shape of Shade moving rapidly towards the huge inner door that gave access to the inner labrynth of Jovan. Suddenly the bounty hunter felt concerned, like someone or something was going to ruin his opportunity. Glancing once more at the Aegis and realizing that he would need to blow the ship's hull open, but for what? The woman inside was no concern of his. No... his goal lay on the other side of the sealed door to Jovan. Corbin quickly moved off in that direction.

Ulric continued to race towards the clone trooper. All the while Hacks realized he had more targets to contend with and that his partners were no where to be seen. He wondered if he had acted prematurely just as Sam's blaster bolt struck his shoulder. Burning pain seared through him and he gripped his weapon tighter. Then from across the passage, suppressing fire rained around him causing him to have to draw back under cover. The clone depressed his trigger again sending another series of blasts towards the Jedi.

:ooc: Ulric's actions: Move, Move

Sallo moves

Will wait to post Hacks attack in case Caden and/or Brim cause him more difficulties.

As Kaida charged behind the lightsaber-wielding Ulric, Caden shook his head and thought to himself that the bounty hunters that were after her wouldn't have to work too hard if she kept acting like a Wookiee in battle...

Using the speeder for stability, Caden propped himself up and squeezed off a shot at their assailant, hoping to drop him before either Ulric or Kaida even got there - but even if he missed, he figured it'd provide suppressing fire and back the man off.

:ooc: Hey Shawn, a couple corrections - and I updated your PC sheet, too  :csu: -

1) Your total ranged attack bonus is +5, weapon focus +1, and Kaida's bonus +1 = for a total of +7, which makes your attack a very nice 25.

2) You are correct, the blaster damage was misallocated, but it should be 3d8+3 ... and the +3 is your damage bonus for 1/2 your Heroic level, not your dex mod. The dex mod adds into the ranged attack skill.

Anyway, Caden delivers a 17 in damage.

Hacks felt another hit from blaster fire strike his thigh and it almost dropped him to his knees. He leaned against the wall and again opened up fire at Ulric. The clone began to wonder if his time was over. Well, better he go out doing what he was created to do rather than to succumb to the genetic failing. Again he wondered where the frak Shade and Fett had gotten too.

:ooc: Hacks sucks... seasoned veteran?? I don't think so!

Going to hold off until later tonight to see if Brim posts before I create round three.

Again the blaster bolts from Hacks are knocked harmlessly away by Ulric's saber.

...the bounty hunters that were after her wouldn't have to work too hard if she kept acting like a Wookiee in battle...

:ooc: It's a flanking maneuver... moving for cover to get a different angle on him (just haven't arrived where I want her to be yet); force him to fire at two widely different angles (not that that's modeled in the game, but she does have a knowledge tactics skill she's trained in...). She's not typically a reckless person.  ;)
