Situation: The Easterlings are taken by surprise by the Éothraim within the Three Tears. All PC's may have two rounds worth of Ranged combat attacks - or - 1 round of movement actions to close and 1 round of Armed combat attacks. At the end of your post, please roll for initiative for round 3.

Koskas is the only one that may react after the first free round of attacks.

Situational Modifiers: The area within the orange circle is the only area where attacks are not penalized by a -5 Darkness penalty. If you wish to attack any character outside the orange ring, a successful Observe (Spot) TN 12 is required (1 Action) to see the target. A failure at this Observe test penalizes by DOS: -3, -5, -7 and is cumulative with the -5 Darkness penalty. Any character at a higher elevation than his opponent receives a +3 advantageous position bonus to attack.

Easterling / Warg Stats: This is a major battle so some of the baddies are standard hit points, so be ready. Mook health levels for the minor baddies... 5 hits for Easterlings TN 10 defence, 6 for Wargs TN 11 defence

Physical Modifiers: Ranged attacks against Sagath will be affected by -3 for shields and -2 movement

As Fengel drew Cerduil to charge down the hill he yelled for two archers to remain and fire upon the enemy.

Stefan

Nain waited for the horsemen to approach, he'd been in enough battles recently to know that bravely running out to meet the enemy would probably do more harm than good.  He loosed his axe and kept his eyes away from the light of the sword so that he'd be able to see them when they were close enough.

The battle began in earnest and the arrows of the Éothraim had a telling effect as both men and wargs stumbled and fell. From a shadowed distance, Koskas watched as the engagement unfolded and smiled even though his troops were taking terrible losses. When Harizän heard that the Éothraim were taking up the fight once more, he would send Koskas more men and supplies, or even come himself - then would these lands be purged of the yellow-haired thieves! With a true army, he would sweep the lands clear of every homestead, every breeding woman, and every bastard child!

Still, Koskas was concerned when he saw the arcane light appear and light the area around his men. Suddenly lightning flared from the hands of Edrahil, atop the northwest hill, and it surged out striking one of the Sagath warriors. The man fell limp from his saddle, his body smokling and skin blackened.

Koskas needed to put a stop to the spellcaster and now he knew where he was. The Easterling mage held up his hands and made his incantation, casting an unholy blast of sorcerous power at Edrahil. The Elf, unaware he was under attack, was struck in his upper torso and knocked back some distance to land on the ground. He did not stir.

Dirnhael did not see the attack but he heard as Edrahil was hit. The Dúnadan turned to see his friend laying on the ground not moving.

OOC: Hey Nikitas, your actions work for me. The only thing is that you need to apply the -5 Darkness penalty to yor Observe test - so to be successful, you'll need to spend a Courage.

Also, I am going to assume that Galudir would know to approach from down wind.

OOC: GoB has had a lot of personal life stuff going on so he has not been able to be on as much, so I am going to roll his attacks so that we can move on to Round 3. We still need to wait for Dirnhael, but Shawn should have that done soon... I think.  ;)

From the prominence of the southwest hilltop, Durgil took aim as the Sagath were lit by Edrahil's magic. The young noble smiled to himself as he thought abou the Sindar's wisdom - choosing a flare of light that enabled them to see but to not cause any momentary blindness. He let go of the bowstring and his Rivendell bow sang!

Dirnhael turned and saw Edrahil fall. He knelt quickly beside him, fearing the worst, but his heart lifted when he watched the Elf stir.
"Edrahil, you must move quickly. We will pursue Koskas, but you - you must get to the next hill quickly, near Nain and Durgil, where you will be safer. Hurry!"
He saw the Elf nod in agreement - he seemed in no position to argue.

He looked at Thermon and then to the base of the hill where the rogue had spotted their foe.
"With all due respect, my friend, sneaking does not become me. Make your way towards Koskas quietly; I will make certain that your approach will be hidden." He said the last with a grim smile, and then shuffled his equipment, placing his shield in hand and sprinting down the hill.

After he was far enough away from his companions, he drew Vorandur with a loud ring, held the blade aloft and shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Sorcerer! You not only face the wrath of the Eothraim; for the Dunedain have come - to collect payment for the precious blood you have spilled!"
