Hi guys.  I know things have become pretty fucking heated as the season finale of your election nears.  Whatever the result, I hope you and yours are alright, and that any rifts that have opened close with time.

Stay safe, guys.

No worries here so far... honestly i'd be more concerned about this time going forward to the swearing in at the end of January and during his next term.

Good to hear.  It may be that I've consumed more current affairs stuff about your election than is strictly healthy for someone with no real skin in the game.

Yeah man, so has Europe. Everyone freaked out and the German government coalition collapsed. Granted it was on shaky ground from day one, but their "nighmare" was basically they were worried about Trump calling them out on all the things they already know. It was fascinating to read their concerns and then see how all of them were issues the news had been covering for months. Dude was more a mirror than a provocateur.

New light from the darkness shall spring...

I'm about to go on a week's holiday, but I am refreshed and raring to finish our tale in the new year.  Thank you for all your supportive messages - they've helped get me through a very bad time.

With the sudden departure of Esgalwen and Gwaithlim from the story, this looks like a good place to bring things to a close.  I would like to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for letting me write an ending to this adventure, even if it involved skipping past a few things I'd planned (there was going to be a whole section about gathering evidence that Caewin is madder than a bag of snakes).  In the end, I didn't have the oomph left to bring it home the way I envisioned, but you carried me over the line.  Even if we never play this again, I'll remember that.

I hope, though, that with the turning of a few seasons there will be an appetite to pick up the threads again and weave some more of this tale - it certainly isn't finished while the Woodmen are still many and well-armed.

Dude, it has been a real blast. I am sorry that my posts dwindled, as they did. The game was shifting strongly to a narrative of the woodmen politics and I was having a hard time fitting a foreigner into the counsels.

Still - this game has been an amazing run. Almost ten years, if we had made it until April!

We certainly can come back to this game. I loved taking hiatuses from our games early on to allow for a mental rest from the stories. We can start up anything new for a while, if we can get a consensus - or we can just take some time away. Whatever everyone would like to do.

But you have Loremastered a helluva a good game!

Nimronyn [Sindarin Pale gleam] superior keen, superior grievous longsword - orc bane
Foe-slaying - when attacking a bane creature, reduce Edge of weapon by value of bearer's Valour

Skirmisher [if carried encumbrance is 12 or less, increase Parry by +3 when in close combat stance]

You did a pretty bang-up job yourself, mate!  I still remember the tension of the trip to Dol Guldur, or the battle beneath the barrow.  I can remember how exciting it was to read about Bandobras nailing Urska the Bloodymuzzle with a single arrow (and I didn't need to look up the name of the boar, it was that good)!

I agree that this did become a bit more back-of-the-mead-hall-drama than I'd really intended, but I didn't see another way to satisfyingly do this part of the story.  If we (had) continue(d), the next story I had planned was a pure high-fantasy travelogue in large part to get the taste of all this intrigue and speechifying out of our mouths.

I look back on this tale and my favorite of all was the Beast of Mirkwood. It was an epic battle and I really enjoyed the Hope pool spend to light the Lamp of Balthi.

I liked the scene with Galadriel presenting herself in the company's desperate moment. All epic and Tolkien-like moments!

Here is to more gaming.
