Situation: The companions are defending Ferthald's steading from a pack of wargs that have breached the walls.

Combat Advantage dice:
• Esgalwen 0/0
• Gwaithlim 1/2
• Hathcyn 0/0

Situation Modifiers:
• The foes have the initiative.

Physical Modifiers (complications):
• There is a limit to how many fighters can be supported by the roofs, though you're not certain exactly how many will cause a collapse.
• A character can use a long spear to attack foes on a roof from the ground (or vice-versa) with a -2 penalty to hit.
• The Fellowship's followers are also engaged fighting other Wargs.  Periodically, each companion will need to make a Battle roll to determine casualties.

Eyes red in the firelight, the wolves continue their onslaught, the two newest arrivals leaping from the granary roof, fangs flashing, at Esgalwen and Hathcyn just as another, its muzzle already red-stained with blood, gathers itself for a mighty leap that forces Gwaithlim to stop in his tracks lest he run straight into its maw.  Still others now exert themselves to leap over the palisade wall, their furious panting heavy as their fleet footfalls as they race to rend and tear Mannish flesh.

:ooc: As before, you can assume by now that your followers are engaging the wargs all around you, though I'm assuming that the Fellowship is where the battle is thickest.

Esgalwen feels the pain as the warg's jaws close about her waist, its massive head shoving into her and pressing the air from her lungs. She fights against the oncoming weariness of arms and legs, even as she drops her bow and grabs Nimronyn in a two-handed clutch. With all her might, she stabs the sword down into the beast's haunch.

:ooc: I know she is not Weary yet, but it is close... also, Paul - in close combat stances, Esgalwen's Parry is 9.

Esgalwen feels her sword pierce deep into the warg's lower back and spine, and a cruel popping sound is heard as it cuts between bone and tendon.

Hathcyn squares off against the warg after narrowly avoiding a crushing bite.

The Beorning snarled back in the language of dogs at the beast.

"You'll regret coming out of the mountains you flee bitten mangy cur." The leaf bladed spear flashed in the dim light of the night and stabbed at the beast.

:ooc: I'm afraid Gwaithlim can't maintain a Rearward stance - thanks to the snapping warg's Great Leap he's very much in the melee now.  That said, I'm happy to consider the roll above to be his Swords roll instead.  It'll be a Great success if you either spend Hope or top it up with bonus dice...

As a warg springs for Gwaithlim, the Elf sidesteps, drawing his sword in a single, smooth movement and smiting it to the earth with the white of bone showing through a dreadful gash in its flank.  Not far away, Hathycn grips his spear-shaft tightly as he plunges it toward another beast, feeling the impact as it sinks down to the lugs in its throat and blood wells, dark as ink, from the fatal wound.

All around them, Men battle to form and hold lines as wargs leap and charge in a terrifying confusion of fearsome snarls and shouts, flickering shadows and the gleam of firelight on blood-slick steel.
