The World of Darkhaven

Of the Continents...

The game Darkhaven takes place on a planet named Aerth. The keep known as Darach Fain, which is surrounded by Darkhaven itself, is situated on the continent known as Alboria. Alboria has its neighbors; two land masses called Inoria, Narboria. These two continents cover the bulk of the northern hemisphere of Aerth and the equator of the planet lies just a few miles south of Arcana. There are countless oceans, seas, and islands on the planet but much of the world is unexplored south of the equator. Civilizations of men and the other humanoid races have risen and fallen in the countless millennia of Aerth but have predominantly resided on these two fertile landmasses.

The planet Aerth is in orbit around a sun that is like ours (named Sol) and it takes 364 days to make its journey round. This has always been a blessing for the clocks and calendar systems of the people of Aerth for it allows them an even time system. The planet has two partners in its travels through space – Celestia, which waxes and wanes in fixed cycles of 28 days each; and Protus which waxes and wanes only 4 times a year marking the 4 season changes and the 7 day festival periods of each season. The GM can determine which era his campaign is set, but history has been recorded up to the second year of 6th Age.

Of the Days and Months of the Year...

Each year is made up of 364 days that are broken up into 12 months of 28 days and 4 seven-day festivals. The months are broken up into 4 seven-day weeks with a festival week at the end of each third month period. Though the many races of Aerth each have their own calendar, a calendar was created by a union of all "civilized' races and is commonly accepted; it is listed below:
