Along the Watchtower - round 5

Situation: A garrison of Dugs (5 - 1 is captain) and Grans (16) bar the passage of a valley turn and must be engaged.

ALL Modifiers (situational, physical, weariness, wound conditions):


  • All PC/NPC's will suffer a -5 penalty for firing into any melee, unless they are the ones in the melee or have the Precise Shot feat.
  • -5 penalty to all PC's action rolls due to darkness, unless they have natural or equipment low-light vision. This penalty will go away after round 5 (yes, I know rounds are 6 seconds and there is a bit of time until the sun rises, but things go slow in PbP games).

Green lights blinked across the console. The Aegis was warmed up and ready for flight. Kara thottled up the repulsors, which whined loudly in the quiet jungle. The ship began to lift off.

Jingo

Kaida rolled out of the way as spats of energy churned up the jungle floor next to her. That was too close! She rolled behind a nearby rock and tried to steady her nerves and calm the adrenaline as she lined her sights up on the Dug that had shot at her.

"Sam or Caden, can you get close enough to put a grenade on those ramparts?"

She squeezed the trigger.

Move: None (she stays put -- the above was just for affect. She's in the same square still, behind her original cover and prone.) so her Move action is another swift action to aim.

Swift: Another aim.

Standard: Shoots at D4.
Aimed Shot w/ Carbine 1d20+7 : 10 + 7, total 17

Damage if hits 3d8+3 : 1, 2, 5 + 3, total 11


Remember, anyone in my LOS gets +2 to attack this encounter.

Hearing the telltale whine of blaster fire, Caden just barely dodged the incoming bolts, whirling his body into the base of the tower for cover.
He would be exposed if he stepped back out; both to whoever was still atop the tower, and to the barrage that almost just did him in.
"Not at the moment," he replied. "There's no cover out there; perhaps we can get atop the tower."

He turned and looked at Farok, Brim, Logar and the unpleasant piles of smoking bodies that now surrounded the three.
"Yeesh," he mumbled. "Guys, there's more of 'em."

Logar took in the wreckage around him. Faroks target was surrendering. He knew what he would do in that situation, or at least what the old Logar would do. He thought it might be better to let Farok handle it. What at first appeared to be an additional target poked his head up from the towers lower level to help Brim with his kill. Logar was all for helping the enemy of his enemy. He reached a hand out to the newcomer. "Need a hand?" He then gave Kaida a quick sit rep of the towers lower level. And his intention to climb up to the next level.

 :ooc: Doug, ok I am going to try something new here as well. I want to Use the Force to place the Gran into a force trance and take him out of the action. JATM pg.10

Farok looked at the Gran in front of him and nodded. He reached out, touched him on the forehead, and said, "Submit and sleep."

He opponent down on the ground, Brim turned and gave the newcomer an appraising look. "That shot come from you?" Assuming an affirmation of some kind... Brim gave the man a quick nod, "Thanks." He turned his attention to the ladder that went down. "Where does that ladder lead?" He asked the newcomer, "We need to worry about anyone else coming up?"

:ooc:If Brim still has more time to do more things after this conversation, he will busy himself with collecting the Grans' weapons and all the weapons and energy packs/cells out of the weapons closet. He'll be looking for a backpack/sack for carrying the equipment as well.

This is assuming BIT says that the level(s) below are not interesting and have no more bad guys... if he says otherwise, Brim will drop down a level and deal with any threats.

"You've given me more than I needed," the merc replies.  He doesn't take the hand given but proceeds up to the next level, so says the sniper in him.  Upon reaching the top level he sees the Dug captain.  He levels his blaster at the leader of his former captors.

:ooc: That probably takes up 2 Move actions.  If not and isn't discovered,

BIT will proceed to come muzzle to skull with the Dug captain.  "You have two choices and one of them leaves you smoking on the floor."

Caden watched the new arrival as he climbed into the room. He had helped Brim, and Caden wasn't about to turn away help at this point.
That said, everybody who helped them had a tendency of moving in with him. A heavy sigh escaped his lips.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," he said to no one in particular.

Sam dropped to the ground and searched for any cover as he sighted in on the Dugs. Having spent the last few moments replacing the empty clip in his slugthrower, he would squeeze off an autofire burst at the Dugs firing on his position.

:ooc: Okay, going down everyones actions:

Farok - per the JATM, the Force Trance cannot be forced upon an unwilling target, so this is something I am going to limit to this scene only. Since the Gran is helpless and wounded, his resistance is very weak (WILL of 12 anyway, which the roll easily beat). This said, always feel free to bring me different ideas with powers and the sort.

Brim: there are a total of 5 blaster carbines and 2 blaster pistols in the cabinet and with the dead Gran. There are a total of 10 power packs.

Kaida: hits D4 with her roll of 17 for 11 damage

Sam: hits D1/D2 with his roll of 20 for 14 damage each





Logar watched as the man who had appeared from the lower level quickly move up the ladder, ignoring his extended hand.

"You've given me more than I needed," the merc said in passing. Logar was unsure if it was a true snub - after all, he was courteous with his reply. The soldier watched BIT disappear through the ceiling access.

A few feet away, Brim began to pull weapons from the locker along with power packs. He looked around for a backpack, or something, but saw nothing. Instead he quickly pulled a blanket from a bunk and rigged a quick sack. Meanwhile, the other Jedi placed their prisoner into a Force trance and the Gran crumpled to the floor.

With the team busy, Caden urgently moved in through the tower's doorway yelling about the fact that there was more dangers outside.

On the tower's second tier, Trevulo saw Boba Fett pull himself up off the ladder and he quickly fired. The blaster bolts missed the bounty hunter, but alerted Fett to the Dug's location. He brought his own blaster rifle up to fire when another shape appeared from the central chamber. The Dug commander felt the hot muzzle of BIT's blaster placed against his temple and he swallowed hard.

"You have two choices and one of them leaves you smoking on the floor."

The crack of branches was barely audible over the whine of the Aegis' repulsors. The ship pushed through the jungle's canopy and Kara and her Twi'lek companion began to accelarate the ship. She piloted along the evident valley, visible only by the depression of the forest below. It took little time to cover the distance that had taken most of the previous day for the team to march on foot. They approached the positioning signal that Caden had transmitted, but little could be seen save a blanket of green. There was a large mountain that cropped out of the jungle not much further past where the team was engaged. At their altitude, Kara and Ardana could see a large crevasse that cut a swath in the jungle only to have the forest continue on the opposite side, except where a large clearing sit atop another cropping of stone. Within the clearing was an elegant looking palace along with a production facility that could have been mistaken as a Tibanna gas compression site.

Ardana squinted and then pointed. Kara followed her gesture and saw large quad-rack launchers with white rockets sitting upon them. There were also gun emplacements. They both wondered the range.
