Situation: Fengel and Harizän commence one-on-one melee

Situational Modifiers: Warrior-born abiltiy (+2 to all AC, RC, UC, for the duration of the battle). Fengel will get a +2 to his attacks due to Harizän's two-handed attacks, but Harizän's combat manoeuvres give him a +4 to damage.

I am granting the Pawn of Prophecy edge to Fengel for this combat session. What that allows you Paul is +20 points to add to ANY rolls (initiative, skill or damage) in any increment, as long as it is +2 or greater. This is in addition to any current COURAGE that your PC has (which is 3 points right now). [5 PoP points left]

Harizän is standard hit points and wound levels.

Physical Modifiers: Harizän is Injured -1 (reduced effect due to Hardy edge), and Tired -2 [The poison will continue to reduce Harizän's weariness status; each effect will last in rounds the penalty imposed (i.e. he will be tired for 2 rounds, weary for 4, etc.)]

Initiative:
Harizän - 10
Fengel - 6

To watch the combattants was to see an example in style - the larger Sagath used his great chopping weapon along with his mass to try and overwhelm the smaller Éothraim. Fengel on the other hand used his smaller, dexterous size and weapon to evade Harizän, parry his attacks and bullrushes, then skillfully maneuver into the Easterling's defenses to strike.

The method was working.

Once more, Cerduil got past Harizän's block and the sword entered into the soft-tissue of the Sagath's torso, just below the ribs. The stab was not strong enough to drop the Easterling, but it drew blood - slowly but surely, Harizän would bleed out.

He panted heavily as he drew back to ready a new attack, and Harizän knew that he must do something quickly to even the odds, or it would be his body feeding the crows at day's end. The Easterling hoisted his axe, as his left foot kicked forward, bringing with it a spray of dirt.

[OOC:] Fengel must make an opposed Swiftness test to avoid getting dirt in his eyes and suffering a -3 penalty to all combat for 1d6+1 rounds.

I will finish Harizän's attacks depending on who takes initiative here... let me know if you are going to spend your points Paul.

Nimronyn [Sindarin Pale gleam] superior keen, superior grievous longsword - orc bane
Foe-slaying - when attacking a bane creature, reduce Edge of weapon by value of bearer's Valour

Shadow bane [when in Forward stance, add 1 success die to each attack]
Skirmisher [if carried encumbrance is 12 or less, increase Parry by +3 when in close combat stance]

Palandil

Opposed Swiftness TN 7:
Roll(2d6)+3:4,6,+3 Total:13 SUCCESS

Add 5 PoP to initiative=11 which leaves 0 PoP I believe.

Action4:Roll(2d6)+17:6,6,+17 Total:29Roll(1d6)+29:4,+29 Total:33 Finally!

It was a dirty tactic which went along with what Fengel thought of Harizan.  Nevertheless Fengel managed to dodge the dirt and quickly attack again.  This time Cerduil found a huge opening in the sagath's defenses, slashing deep into flesh.

This has been more posting in one night then a year!  Alas I must end tonight's combat.  Thanks to you all for being patient while Fengel is engaged.  I'm not near the roleplayer as you all.
If I need to I'll write some narrative tomorrow Doug.  Oh by the way that PoP stuff helped make Gleowyn's efforts come to life in this encounter.  Thanks.

[OOC:]  (D Yea, we finally have this game rolling again! Do what you must and I will talk to you tomorrow. You are welcome on the PoP stuff. I actually did it for two reasons... one, because this was a mean bad guy, and two it seemed fitting for everything that Fengel would have been.

I will be honest though, if Fengel had failed, it would have been a great link in our story as to why the Éothraim may have abandoned these lands and moved north to the Anduin vales. Their king's army would be defeated, king killed, and the Sagath would hold sway over the plains... a good reason to get out of Dodge!  ;)

It looks like Fengel may have changed the course of his people. Well, at least until I come up with another reason why they might migrate.  ;D
