Heostor bursts forward, away from the angry warg.  As they move away a few yards Fengel turns him back to charge the beast again.  The horse moved with great skill, as rider and horse were in tune with each other.  The whole manuvere over in seconds, he and the orc were face to face again.

OOC: The Orc is dead, the warg is alive. If you look at the small situation image, if it has an O2, that means both Orc and Warg are still alive. If it just shows the W2, then the Orc rider is dead, leaving just the mount.

Now faced with a threat that was everybit as menacing, if not more, Seriand prepared for the Warg, the riderless creature was probably more of a threat now that it had been with a rider.  The rider had held back, at least a small part, of the Warg's ferocity and ill-temper,  but now nothing could hold the foul beast back, nothing save the finely crafted steel of an elven blade...

The battle raged in earnest but it was already clear to the combatants as to which way the fight was going. The warriors, with their expert skill, were cutting back the rank of Warg-riders and any initiative the Orc archers might have had was lost. But not for Graush...

The great Orc warrior spurred his beast up to the top of the incline and looked down upon the battle raging. The interlopers were all very much involved with their attackers and looking the wrong way. His diversionary attack had worked. Graush held up his hand to give signal to his other warriors behind him and they all bent back on their bow strings.

"Take the great warriors first... the Elf-mage leave to Uglurtz," he whispered. "Alive or dead... I care not."

OOC: The remainder of Graush's troop enter the fray by approaching from behind the Company; they are currently 40' away from all the combatants, but well within (Short) range of bow. They are not under penalty from Dirnhael's Intimidation

His Spear drove deep within the warg, bringing the foul beast down.  Fengel then saw to his surprise the orc's had planned well their attack, as orc archers had come up behind them.  "Take heed! Archers behind you!"  He calls to his comrades.  Just then an arrow flew by him.

He managed to avoid it but a second struck him.  He could feel the foul poison that they used already begin to burn.  This was a dire situation that they were in now.  He glances quickly at his friends, most were not on their horse any longer.  He looks for their horses in the hopes of retrieving them.

Where is the rider of the warg Fengel killed, and where are the horses of the riderless?  Also how does a shield come into play in a ranged combat dodge or parry?  Shouldn't the orcs have a -3 to hit Fengel?

OOC: Hey Palandil,

First, you only need roll one Dodge roll... the results of the roll set your character's defence for the rest of that round. So, by rolling the 12 and adding the Courage, you make your Defence 15 for all other attacks in the same round.

Second, the orc was killed... I will have to go back through the posts to find out when and how.

Third, yes, the shield in your hands does affect your Defence and I have adjusted the post above.

Lastly, the horses for Seriand and Nain are milling about outside the combat. I am assuming it is these horses that you are talking about.

OOC: Since I think Dirnhael killed his Warg on the first swing (Action 2), he's on his third action.
If not, please subtract 5 from my roll...

Dodge Orc Arrow (TN 16) - Dodge +2
Roll(2d6)+2: 5,3,+2 Total:10 - FAIL

Resist Poison (TN 9) - Stamina +3
Roll(2d6)+3:5,6,+3 Total:14 - SUCCESS (OOC: Whew!)

***

Dirnhael heard Fengel's cry and the sharp twang of a bowstring all at once. An instant later, he heard the arrow clink against his mail as it penetrated and struck Dirnhael. There was pain, of course, but he could deal with that (OOC: His mail reduces the damage by 5, making it 5, correct?)... and then he felt the burn in his blood - the Orcs had dipped the arrows in their vile poisons!

He turned his horse with a roar and glared at his enemies. They were caught unawares, and their danger was grave indeed...

As the head of the worthless orc sails through the air Nain feels a moment of joy, but that moment is cut short by the thud and sudden sharp pains that he felt in his back.

"Argh, the foul beasts have set us in a trap."

OOC: So the 12 would have been enough then, and I can keep my courage right?  Since the orc rolled a 15 but needed to take away 3 for Fengel's sheild.

Here is the updated post.

His Spear drove deep within the warg, bringing the foul beast down.  Fengel then saw to his surprise the orc's had planned well their attack, as orc archers had come up behind them.  "Take heed! Archers behind you!"  He calls to his comrades.  Just then an arrow flew by him, he quickly dodged a second.  He sees that Dirnhael had dispatched his attackers.  "Dirnhael, we must confront the archers!"   Grabbing his spear and giving a quick jerk, he removed it from the dead warg.  He then spurred Heostor over to Nain, charging the riderless beast.

Action 1 & 2: Charge attack
Charge +1; AC+2; Spear+2; Nim+1; Warwise+3; Fell-handed+1
Roll(2d6)+10: 5,4,+10 Total:19

Action 3: reserve (dodge if necessary)

Initiative:
Roll(2d6)+3: 4,2,+3 Total:9

OOC: No, the shield increases your Defence score from an 11 to a 14 (+3 to Defence vs. Ranged Combat). The Orcs still rolled a 15 which is enough to hit a TN 14, so you still need to spend the Courage.

As far as the rest of your updated post goes.. is this your actions for next round (Round 4), because you have already attacked in Round 3? If this is the case, its not a problem, I will just copy and paste this post on to the next thread that I start.
