As Grimbeorn's blows spray the blood of the goblin chieftain across the rough-cut table and the spears of Laeral and Hathcyn flash in the firelight, Arbogast keeps himself and his shield between the goblins and Grimbeorn's back.  As the creatures leap to the defence of their leader, he answers them blow for blow.

:ooc: Arbogast is shifting into Open stance.  If possible, he'll move to a position where his attacks can hit both goblins #11 and #12 simultaneously (thanks to the Cleaving quality).  Then he'll attack #11.

:ooc: Matt, that was an incredibly grim roll for the target on the end of it! Unfortunately the system only allows for extraordinary successes and 2x your damage bonus - instead of 3x for the third six! Still, the 21 :<3: loss is a neat kill. I looked at all of his cool special abilities and there is no combination that would safe him.

• Laeral's attack v Goblin 9 finds its mark, too, with a 16 success for 9 :<3: loss.
• Arbogast's cleave is v Goblins 11 & 12 is also a 23 success for 5 :<3: loss to both.

I will continue once I get Tom's post.

:ooc: I don't know what's happened to Tom, but I think we can safely assume that Hathcyn will be all stabby-stabby at the remaining goblin within reach.  Doug, do you want to roll for him?

Hathcyn heard the work of his companions to his side. He heard nothing that indicated that they were in trouble but he was hesitant to take his eyes off the the goblin before him and the one in the hall. The Beorning moved forward to dispatch another quickly before they rallied.

The companions whirled in a fury of weapons and blood, slaying the goblins in their wrath.

CHUNK!

The terrible sound was heard above the din of the room - Grimbeorn's massive axe split through the skull of the goblin leader and into the wooden throne upon which he sat. An immediate pall fell over all as the goblin horde watched the quick and ruthless death of their leader.

Hathcyn pulled the spear from the creature he had just killed and looked to the the others that stood near, seeing their eyes flit back and forth in confusion. The craven creatures were spiritless without the strength of a leader.

And then a voice boomed in the room - that of the large, black Uruk that had stood near the chieftain. "ACK! Men and Elves have come into our home and slain your chief! Do we cower from these dogs, or do we drive them from here? We are the Uruk-Hai! We are the slayers! Let us slay them and leave their bodies for the vultures and crows!"

The companions felt it in the air as the fear that had overtaken the room was suddenly turned to hate and rage. As one, swords and knives were pulled from where they were kept, along with small crude bows.

The new leader, Kurgak, pointed his sword at Arbogast and his fellow Uruk bounded over the table to engage the Man, all the while himself stalking the large Beorning.

The goblins and Uruks attacked.

:ooc: BTW - now that I have had time to really sit and work out the details of this encounter, I have updated the Uruks. The Uruk leader is named Kurgak and he has Commanding voice as an ability. He spends the :@: point to restore the goblins to anger and hate.

Goblin/Uruk attacks

Note: I am not allowing an attack from the goblin archers this round as they need to get to bow and quiver, so they will be readied in round 2 - all other orcs quickly pull the weapons on their person.

Note: Grimbeorn's TN is actually 23 due to Giant Strength; Arbogast's TN is 18 as I had not marked him for Open stance; Laeral's owl's affect does not change this outcome. Also, I adjust Goblin 1 to be a snaga. If you guys see anything else i may have missed, please chime in and I will adjust accordingly.

Results
• Goblin 1 misses Hathcyn (after making orc adjustment)
• Goblin 2 misses Hathcyn
• Goblin 10 hits with a 16 success on Hathcyn for 4 :<3: loss

• Ouch! Goblin 8 hits with an :~~: :%: (25) success on Laeral for 8 :<3: loss and she must make a :<>: test TN 12
• Goblin 9 hits with a 16 :%: success on Laeral for 8 :<3: loss

• Goblin 12 misses Arbogast
• Uruk hits with a 18 success on Arbogast for 5 :<3: loss

• Goblin 11 hits with a 23 :%: :%: on Grimbeorn for 12 :<3: loss and he must make a :<>: test TN 12
• Kurgak hits with an :~~: success on Grimbeorn for 7 :<3: loss and he must make a :<>: test TN 14

Sorry guys, those were some pretty sick rolls!
