:ooc: Righto, decision time.  It's a four-day march back to Stánford... unless you want to risk a forced march.  That would halve the time, but you'd need to make an Athletics test in addition to the regular Fatigue test in order to avoid additional fatigue.  There's also no guarantee that Williferd and Oderic would be able to keep up with experienced murderhobos adventurers.

The Warden's Axe: :dmg: 5/7, Edge 9, Injury 18/20
Woodcrafty - In wooded areas, Parry is based on favoured Wits score.

:ooc: Well our decision needs to be based on a bit more info from Oderic:

1 Do the Blood Moon Raiders have horses?

2 Were they preparing a raid - meaning have they been actively preparing weapons, missile ammo, and men?

If yes to both of these questions, we'll have to try the hard march. If no, then we'll move at best possible speed without overexerting.

Either way, Esgalwen will lead them at an angle to the river in hopes of finding any river-men (barge or skiffs) that can transport us north faster than we can go on feet. Also, if there are any potential horse herders along the way (I know, very slim), she will pay coin from her pocket to entice the herder to release a few mounts with further payment coming upon completion of their errand.

Lastly, they will spread word along their path of the hazard of the raider host lying undercover in the Wolf-wood.

Esgalwen [♦♦♦♦♦○] Dmg 10/12  |  Edge 8  |  Injury 16/18
Nimronyn [Sindarin Pale gleam] superior keen, superior grievous longsword - orc bane
Foe-slaying - when attacking a bane creature, reduce Edge of weapon by value of bearer's Valour

Shadow bane [when in Forward stance, add 1 success die to each attack]
Skirmisher [if carried encumbrance is 12 or less, increase Parry by +3 when in close combat stance]

:ooc: There's no horses in evidence (and the only Northmen with any real cavalry tradition live south of here), so any pursuit is almost certainly going to be on foot.  With a Battle roll...

:00: 1d12 : 9, total 9
Rolled 2d6 : 6, 2, total 8

:ooc: ... Esgalwen can tell that the Toft-Men are sufficiently well-armed to present a threat to almost any settlement west of Mirkwood.

So, one of two.  I'll assume that you don't plan on a forced march to the river unless I hear otherwise.

(And :csu: for the Battle AP).

:ooc: Excellent!

Thanks for the successful roll, too.  ;D
