Seeing the fell creature stagger back at the attacks of his comrades, Grimbeorn throws a bit of caution to the wind.  He slings his shield out of his way for a two-handed grip and charges down the beast with a great bellow of his kind.

Arbogast's heart sinks as the beast ignores the lamps to focus instead on the High Elf.  But in its fury, the Werewolf is, for the briefest of moments, giving no thought to the Men and lesser Elves that surround it.  As it takes the warrior of Rivendell in its jaws, he spies what he hopes is an opening and darts in, the Warden's Axe raised...

Morirúsë cried out in pain as his body was ravaged by the beast who's mutual hate for him matched that of the Elf's. The light of the Elven  lamps shown upon his tortured face and his wrath made him fey and cold. The twisted countenance of his face feared not death and the light of him seemed about to burst the bounds of his flesh, but in his madness he would not yield. Here was an ancient foe, defending himself or pressing the attack would not change his fate. They struggled against the will of each other as they did with their might. The beast would back down and in some small part he hoped the battle would redeem his part in the sins of Beleriand or Morirúsë would fall. As his life's blood spilled and the beast was in his reach he cared not which.

:ooc: Morirúsë will attack From an Open Stance. He will be using his Wrath of Fingolfin ability to Intimidate Foe from a Forward or Open stance and still make an attack, he will also be using his sword two handed.

Morirúsë scrambled to his right after the werewolf raked him with its claws, and the monster followed his movements. It's massive head was low to the ground and its body was like a coiled spring ready to release in a terrifying assault.

The Noldo was staggering and the wolf's lips pulled back in a snarl. It was then that Esgalwen swung - her sword slashing high and uselessly, save to make the beast turn her way. It's sudden change in stance allowed Grimbeorn and Arbogast both to swing their axes into its haunches. The werewolf bounced its back legs to dodge, but both men struck deeply. The werewolf was panting hard in pain and weariness.

Morirúsë brought his sword point up and within him the Light of Valinor began to glow, though it was perceptible only to the foul spawn of Morgoth. The werewolf lowered its head in fear, its eyes widened now with panic. The Noldo feinted and the wolf snapped forward, but Morirúsë quickly adjusted and the sword point took the creature in its throat, pushing up through and out its neck.

The massive weight of the dying monster pulled the Elf down to his knees. He withdrew his blade and watched the dark blood spill out, bubbling as it did from the final rasping breaths taken.

The light of the lamps swung from their ropes, casting moving shadows in the Elven camp. A darker shadow moved and then disappeared into the forest of Mirkwood.

Morirúsë was on his knees, and the blood of the two mixed and poured out to the forest floor. The lips of the elf moved quietly, though loud enough to carry to the others.

"Merin sa haryalyë alassë nó vanyalyë Ambarello, nai elyë hiruva. Namárië!" The elf rolled away from the bulk of the beast.

In the speech of Men a Wood Elf repeated his whispered words as they were in the ancient tongue and not seldom taught or spoken even among the Wood Elves, ""I hope that you have happiness before you pass from the world, maybe even thou shalt find it. Farewell!"

"He gives a prayer even for this fell beast."

Morirúsë rolled over and up, and the pain and weariness was carved into his face.

"Yes, for once this was a beast, and the soul that filled once too was created by the One, before it was twisted by malice, hate, and hunger by the enemy of the world."

Morirúsë then drew his sword from the wolf and blood spattered looked upon his companions. "Well done Sons of the Fathers of Men, well done indeed. Now to Orophal, is he slain or will he walk again under the leaves for another spring? And then we must to our pursuit, for the fell spirit escaped into the woods, I felt its departure and our work is not yet done ere the beast come again."

:ooc: Doug I am guessing Morirúsë felt or knew about the dark spirit departing in shadow, if not and you are going somewhere feel free to revise my post.
