History Esgalwen, daughter of Eradan, is a beautiful, young Ranger of the South.

Her grandparents fled Ithilien when the Watchful Peace ended with the coming raids of Uruk-hai and the Haradrim. Two generations later, having come of age, Esgalwen has joined the ranks of Rangers. While her father would prefer his only child stay closer to hearth and home, he knows he has only himself to blame for telling her the grand stories of her people and teaching her how to handle a blade.

Now, by their captain's orders, she must travel to the Wilderland to gather news.

Nimronyn [Sindarin - Pale gleam] - bane weapon against orcs
Superior Keen Long sword [reduce weapon Edge score by 2 - RIV p.100]
Superior Grievous - [damage rating gains a bonus equal to the bearer's Valour - RIV p.100]
Foe-slaying - when attacking a bane creature, reduce Edge of weapon by value of bearer's Valour
--------------------------------------------------
Esgalwen looked to the weapon in her other hand that had slain the creatures. Its edge was keen and a pale gleam came from it even in the murk of the wood, and even though it was smeared with ichor. "Nimronyn," she whispered in Sindarin. "Pale gleam...that is what I shall call you."

History Rorin and his father Barin marched out with Dain II and fought side by side in the Battle of the Five Armies where Barin fell to an orc blade during the fighting. Rorin survived to recover his father's heirloom armor and bury him with the other fallen dwarves in the Lonely Mountain, though his father's death cut him deeply. Rorin helped Dain II in the early days of rebuilding the Kingdom of Erebor but could not stay. He found that his new stationary, peaceful life did not agree with him and so he set out to honor his father's life as best he could.

Redoubtable: Subtract favored Heart from final Fatigue rating

Forge (Holding 2: rating 8)
Holding Upkeep
In the course of the last Fellowship phase of each year (Year's End) all players whose heroes have a holding must make a roll using the Feat die.
• If the roll result is equal to or less than the holding's rating, then the holding produces just enough wealth to keep the character at his Standard of Living. If the Loremaster deems it appropriate to the current circumstances, a result of 1 or 2 may be interpreted to mean that the character's holding does not produce enough to cover his living expenses, forcing the hero to spend stored Treasure to maintain his Standard of Living.
• If the result is greater than the rating, then the character does not only attain his appropriate Standard of Living but, if the holding is a property capable of producing wealth (such as an inn, or tracts of land), it earns Treasure equal to the difference between the roll and the rating. For example, if a player rolls a 9 on a holding rated 6, he earns three Treasure that year.
• If the result is G, then good fortune strikes the hero! He gains no extra Treasure, but prospers in some other way - a sick child recovers, an old feud is settled, the weather is unusually pleasant. The rating for the holding is permanently lowered by 1 (to a minimum of 3)
• If the result is EYE, then the holding suffers some disaster or misfortune. If the hero does not take action in the next Fellowship phase, the holding may be destroyed or have its rating increased.

History Bandobras "Bandy" Bracegirdle, the son of a prosperous farmer near Harbottle, is a curious young man by Hobbit standards whose interest in genealogy and history have taken him beyond the boundaries of the Shire.  He seeks evidence for the book he is writing, "Concerning Hobbits: A History of Notable Events and Individuals." Fancying himself a serious scholar, Bandy does not take anything at face value and wants hard evidence to support the old stories that have been handed down from generation to generation. He is eager to learn more about the Hobbits' Wondering Days, the Shire bowmen who reportedly fought in the Battle of Fornost, and to verify Bilbo Baggins' wild tales. Although he wants to believe that a Hobbit had a hand in defeating Smaug, as the nephew of Otho and Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, he is somewhat skeptical of old Bilbo's claims. His research on Tobold Hornblower took him as far as Bree, but Bandy knows he must must take an extended trip into the Wilderland to uncover the truth. Not a robust individual, Bandy will rely on his wits and heart to see him through the dangers he will encounter. If those fail, he is a good with a bow.

History Arbogast, son of Arbodag, hails from one of the small holdings scattered near Woodmen-town but has made his home at Black Tarn Hall since its foundation.  He thinks deeply but speaks little, waiting and watching the flickering in the hearth until his words will have the greatest weight.

He spoke at the Folk-moot of the Woodmen in the year 2947, encouraging many to vote in favour of including the Men of Tyrant's Hill in the folk (though ultimately failing to sway the vote in their favour).

In 2951, he defended his people from raiders at Black Tarn Hall, goblins at Mountain Hall and wights at the barrow hills near the Sunstead, being wounded twice, once very gravely.  With the newfound respectability his actions earned him, and the treasure bestowed upon him by Caewin of the Sunstead, he finally married his love of some years, Lindwine the Ice-Dancer.  Their daughters Lafwyne and Cyffa were born on the 3rd of March 2952.  Their third daughter, Wilone, was born on the 20th of February 2954 and was drowned by the River-maiden Duskwater in October the same year.

Treasure 16 Standing 4

History Background: Grimbeorn is the son of Beorn the Skinchanger.  The lad takes after his father in most ways just younger and a little more unpredictable.  Grim is a fierce warrior and competitor and yet a loyal friend.  He was sent to the Folk-moot to represent his people, both the Beornings and the bears, even though the invitation was not sent to them; it was come upon when Grimbeorn rescued the envoy who was sent to the Woodsmen of the Vale.

Bear Claw is the axe that is strapped to Grimbeorn's back.  This is a fearsome weapon, heavy and hungry for blood.  It was his father's weapon until he came into his birthright as a skinchanger.  The axe has cleaved many a head of orc, warg, and all manner of evil creature that happened to stray too near the lands under his protection.  The weapon was given to Grimbeorn in gratitude for proving his worth and stature to his father as a coming-of-age gift following the incident with the emissary.  He wears the weapon proudly and even jealously, though not many men could lift it for too long.

In a brief yet intense skirmish with trolls, Grimbeorn found and claimed a great shield of the ancient realm of Laurelindorinan, today known only as Lothlorien or Lorien.  The shield stands three-quarters his height and three-quarters abreast of him at the top.  It was made of gray wood of the mallorn tree, light and sturdy.  It's form was that of a leaf, delicately gilt along the edges and the face stained in grayish green.  When looking straight on at the face of the shield, the device of the realm was molded as the left side reading as Tengwar "L".
