That sounds awesome - I hope it lives up to expectations!

It looks like I'll soon be running some 5e games at one of our FLGS-es for a bunch of tweens I don't know.  That could be great fun or a total disaster and there's no way to tell which before we get started.  I'm also putting together an Eclipse Phase one-shot for a convention later in the year, which will be set on a swarm of three large vessels and some shuttles, with up to six players and ([number of players]-2) bodies for them to share.

I'm going to head off tomorrow on our annual winter camping trip.  I'll check in midweek but I can't promise to get any more posts up until next Saturday.  Hopefully after that, I can start posting more regularly.

*Ahem*.  So, I'm back on the boards after what has been a cognitively interesting couple of weeks.  By now, you're all probably a bit sick of me apologising for being flaky so I'll skip that bit.  Suffice to say, I've been dealing not particularly well with a serious depressive episode - one that has led to some disciplinary stuff at work - that is part of a series that, in retrospect, I've been dealing with for my entire adult life.  Even before things kicked off this time, I was at a point where, though I love the shit out of running games, actually doing it just felt like more work.  No reflection on you guys there: this game has kept me going through some previous hard times and I really don't want to see the end of it.

While I'm in a period of, shall we say, unscheduled leave, I've also started taking some medication and doing some talk therapy (during which I'm learning all kinds of interesting terms like 'toxic shame').  I'm at a point now where I feel like I'm turning a corner rather than just plunging into an abyss.  Reading back over my recent posts, I hope that will be reflected in an improvement in my storytelling.

I don't know that you have much use for any of this information, but now you have it.  It seemed important to say this stuff.  I hope you guys are all keeping well - mental health conditions can turn up pretty slowly and insidiously, it seems.

As a Gamemaster of many years - 42 to be specific - in different genres and through multiple mediums, I know the overwhelming feeling that can come from 'Being ready for game night.' I also know what you mean when getting a single post on the forum is not a lot of work, but it seems like just another thing that is out there and weighs on you. I know the feeling of not wanting to let my players down. I know the feeling of relief when a game night is postponed.

So, you need not apologize for anything Paul. Take the time you need for you, your family, and for your profession. The good thing is, this core group of players on this site have been here now for at least nine years (some longer), and I do not think any of us our going anywhere. I will keep the site going for as long as I have a story to tell, or a story to be part of, and then I hope to capture it all as some form of personal game-chronicle.

As I told you in our PM, I have nothing really to even offer this story - especially if Esgalwen is retired - so I know that feeling of having the brain squeezed dry of ideas. I think that is why I rotated our games so much back in the day. We would play Lord of the Rings, then I would end a chapter and I would put that game on hiatus and we'd play Star Wars, or Star Trek. It all went really great, too! It was the same group of players and we all created some great stories.

Maybe we should take a hiatus from this game for a bit? Maybe Star Trek, Star Wars, or some other genre might be refreshing? I have all sorts of new content to play in Twilight:2000, ALIEN RPG, Call of Cthulhu, etc. All of which could be a nice break for a while. I don't know.

Anyway, as I always say - you take care of what you need to, we will be here.

Moria has arrived!

Along with a few other perks - two large cloth maps of Eriador and Moria, as well as the included Moria paper map with a cool looking stance grid on the back of it.
