Around the companions, the battle begins to turn in favour of the Woodmen.  To their left, an orc turns and begins to flee, only to be cut down by a spear hurled into its back.  From the rear, shouting voices and sounding horns announce the piecemeal arrival of reinforcements who have likewise wrested themselves free of the goblin ambush.

By Esgalwen's feet, though, the still-open eyes of the slain shieldmaiden begin to glow with a sickly, pus-yellow light and a long, eerie whistling escapes between her motionless lips.  An answering roar sounds from the opposite side of the hall, and Mannish cries and thudding footfalls herald the approach of a troll.

Hathcyn turned to his Aetheking and worked to out maneuver one of the orcs upon him. He squared off against the Red Eyed Orc.

As Grimbeorn harries the red-eyed orc with blow after great blow upon its shield, Hathcyn slips his spear beneath the foul thing's guard and rams it home.  Once again, the head disappears to emerge once again, gore-slick as the orc spasms and dies.

"Light of the North!" cries Esgalwen, her sword raised high that the fading of its glow might be seen afar.  "Fight on!  Fight on!  Victory is near at hand!"

That's one point short of what you need!  Do you want to drop a Hope (or Fellowship) point on it?

:ooc:  (-D  Well, they were never really off - we just never ordered them.  You're down two now, but the spitting orc needs a Protection roll (TN 18):

:ooc: And now I have no dice to roll.  Esgalwen's Rally gives everyone three Endurance points back.

Matt, would you care to describe how Grimbeorn finishes the orc off?

With a brutal slash, the young bear cuts down the spitting orc across its offensive mouth, not to continue in the future.
