Hathcyn wielding the spear two handed uses the shaft to parry the flurry of blows. He gives ground to keep the creature of bone and much away from his person. The violence of the attack leaves little room and he doubts the creature will tire like a living man. He must out fight the creature with skill or speed. Swiftly he dodges and thrusts again with his keen spear.

Nimronyn swung once more in an attempt to behead the dead thing, hopefully rendering it lifeless once more.

:ooc:  :?  I'm not sure what's up with the die roller lately - it seems like it's decided it owes you guys something!

Tom, would you like to tell us how you slay the wight?

Arbogast repositions swiftly, lending shield and blade to Hathcyn's efforts.  He hacks at the mud-wight, landing cunning blows that would prove the end of an orc or Man, but which do little against the dead.

Across the canal, Laeral looses an arrow at the root-armed wight as Esgalwen's blade lodges for a second time in sodden wood and old bone.

:ooc: I won't roll for Arbogast this round, as he would've gone to assist Hathcyn if we were more strict about the regular initiative order and that's now taken care of.

Laeral is another matter:

Try as she might, the Elven wanderer cannot find a clear shot as woman and wight grapple desperately in the moonlight.  Once again, Esgalwen finds grave-cold hands at her throat, and this time she cannot escape swiftly enough.  The wight's mud-and-bone hands close with brutal force, choking off air and lifeblood alike.  In mere seconds, Esgalwen's vision begins to dim, and the world seems to resound with the tolling of a great and deep bell, receding further and further into the distance.

:ooc: That's a miss for Laeral (who will probably shift tactics soon), but a savage hit for the wight!  15 :<3: thanks to its doubled attribute level due to fighting in the dark.

The leaf like blade of the spear found its mark in the Wight. So concentrated on chocking the life from Hathcyn it paid little attention to its own defenses. The spear made a squishing sound as it passed by blood and muck, but like cutting a string on a puppet the spear had found its mark. The limbs of the wight went limp. The mire and filth oozed off of the bones as it lost its shape and fell to a pile of bank slime and old bone.
