With a cry Hathcyn lept at the Goblins deviling his friend. The great strides of the Beorning brought him quick upon them with his spear leveled.

Rolled 2d6 : 2, 2, total 4

:ooc: it occurs to me that we never established party roles or Fellowship focus. Moving forward Harhold will be his fellowship focus as we have established their close friendship and I'll transition to a PC once we have spent some time together. If that's ok with you Paul.

Also, what are your thoughts on a two handed spear providing some type of parry bonus? Maybe something like +2 Parry against a single opponent, +1 against two or more. My thought is that you can use it to keep someone at bay and deflect blows but its utility decreases when your outnumbered.

:ooc: I would say yes, but it would come via a buyable trait. Not a weapon enhancement, but a fighting-style trait that you can buy with experience.

I agree with what you're saying about the benefits of the spear keeping combatants at a distance, but it would be an awkward weapon at first. The defensive benefits would be learned by use.

Does that make sense?

There is no time for Grimbeorn to think, he just continues to hack his way through the goblin threat.

:ooc: Yes.  I don't think you've ever pulled a Twin Strike off successfully.

As the light fails outside, the three goblins scatter away from Harhold's prone body, knives already bloody.  With hisses and barks, they answer Hathcyn three blows for one as Harhold struggles on to his side.

Inside the longhouse, the orcs roar with laughter as Grimbeorn lashes out once and again.  "Rage, little bear," comes a cry from the back, as orcs move to block the doorway.  "It'll give you more flavour before we unmake you!"

:ooc: So, your options are diminishing rapidly.  Escape is probably the best one, but Grimbeorn's TN is going to go up by 2 each round after this one as his way out gets progressively more blocked.  In the meantime, the fight carries on:

Hathcyn keeps two goblins at bay, sweeping his spear in a wide arc, but doesn't notice a third until he feels a sudden, sharp pain in his back.

:ooc: Hathcyn takes another three :dmg: and needs another Protection roll.
