Having heard the yelps and howls of the wolves attacking Grimbeorn, the Company had quickly gathered their weapons and raced off to assist the Beorning.

The large man shoved a wolf back with his shield, as it leapt towards his throat. His axe rose in his hand even as the shrubs and trees pushed back revealing his companions - Esgalwen and Arbogast had arrived!

With Nimronyn high overhead, Esgalwen swung it down on a wolf in a ferocious arc.

Arriving, breathless and sweat-drenched despite the cold mountain air, Arbogast clashes axe on shield and lays in to the nearest wolf.

The wolf's growl as it dodges the Warden's Axe turns abruptly to a startled yipe as the Fire-watcher follows its movement and slices off one of the beast's ears.  Nearby, another wolf whines in sudden pain as the Dwarf-spells wound about the axe open a wound in its flank.

:ooc: Barely a hit, but it still counts!

The battle had shifted. The wolf pack leader knew it, as he smelled his brothers' blood flowing from their dead bodies.

The large wolf gave another guttural snarl and its companions began to disengage. The animal looked directly at Grimbeorn and it let loose a long howl. Answering calls rang out at a distance along the mountain's woodline. There was a message in that call and the Beorning knew it.

The lead wolf quickly turned on the stone and disappeared into the foliage.

:ooc: Wolf 3 bolts, but you have W1 held up in the circle, Arbogast.

Do you guys let it go, or attack it again?

Ok, wasn't sure I was engaged with it or not.

Grimbeorn won't let it go if he can help it.

The wolves turn to flee, and Arbogast does not consider hindering them.  Further bloodshed would be for nought but its own sake, and the Fellowship has more pressing business.

:ooc: The only way Grimbeorn can get to that wolf would now be to track it (Hunting test) and then an opposed Athletics test to catch up to it.

Let me know if that is what you want to do.

The Beorning follows both his training and instinct trailing his enemy.  They all must be taken down, leaving fewer in the end.

Perturbed for a Beorning, Grimbeorn returns quietly to his companions.  He gathers his things and falls in with them.  "We must move lest we are hunted.  I have no doubt there are more out there."
