Situation: PC's engage a speeder truck column in an attempt to rescue Kaida's sister - this is a SURPRISE round, PC have free attack.

Hold... A bead of perspiration formed just above Abby's visor. She watched as the forward escort pulled ahead from the rest of the convoy. The two speeder bikes that had crossed over the bridge were the technician's greatest worry. If they managed to pull away... the data streaming across her visor, showing the tech specs for the bikes, suggested there would be little chance of catching them.

"SAM, light up those bikes with your first shot," Abby suggested. "If they get away, it won't be long before they bring back reinforcements."

Calling up top, she gave commands to the grenadier. "I'll gonna pull straight through, right in front of the X-34. When I do, hit it with a concussion."

"Kresh, use the Arrow for cover and see if your people can take out the troopers on those bikes."

She gave one more look over to SAM, hoping to find some reassurance from her droid companion. Come on, girl... it's not like it's gonna give you some reassuring smile or some such..., "Ready?"

With a nod from SAM, Abby gunned the Arrow forward, making a bee line straight for the speeder bikes, lighting up the speeder's blaster cannons are she moved to meet her target.

This was not the first raid that Farok had undertaken. He waited patiently and let the events unfold around him and for just the right moment to begin to engage. He heard Abby begin her attack and begin counting to ten waiting for the droideka to open fire. Farok smiled, he never though he would be on the same side as one of those. 

When he sensed the timing to be right he tapped Caden on the shoulder with his new hand, "Let's go."

When the speeder bike bucked forward the lightsaber snaped to life with a hiss, "NAZARA JINN, DAHAMA FEDAYKIN!!!" With that the companions the then began to hear the distinctive wail of Farok's lightsaber as he began his distinctive swinging arcs.

Silently two red bolts streaked in from nowhere, targeting the rear vehicle.

When Kaida heard BIT's signal, she was surprised it had gotten through the comm scrambler. The sniper shots had been the backup signal. But it was BIT. If anyone could crack a comm scrambler, he was the one.

She turned to the Kresh's men surrounding her. Troops so green it made her wonder why the trees nearby looked so washed out in the afternoon sun. How many of them wouldn't make it out?

"Okay, this is it! Stay prone and remember to breathe. Now! Open fire!"

She gunned the engine and her speeder leaped forward from under the camouflaged netting and she banked left around a tree, feeling the pull of the sudden swing.

"Betty!" she called into the trees. That was the name she'd given the Droideka.  "Shields up and priority targets, now!" They had painted the droid in camo pattern and she had barely seen the droid, crouching behind the foliage. The energy shield blossomed to life at her command and it rotated its torso, tracking the speeders.

:ooc: For now, she wants to droid to stay behind cover, hidden, but with shields on and a clean field of fire to the enemy. I'll let you do Betty's rolls since I don't know what the droideka can do exactly. For now, Betty will target one of the speeder bikes. Kaida will target another.


Kaida rode low over her handle bars and watched the data feed into her helmet display.

 :ooc: my understanding is that Caden and Farok are both on a speeder together. Once the heavy weapons open up we will swoop in for the close kill and Farok will do what needs doing up close with the light saber or opening up the transport. Let me know what you want me to roll Doug, or if it moves things along and you get my drift you can narrate through it or roll for me.

:ooc: First of all, Tom - cool on your post. I am going to go ahead and post for Caden and then I will add your attacks so that this particular round can be ended.

Here are mechanic assumptions/results I am taking for the first round to allow for your narratives to be in order with what you want:

BIT - I am removing your second attack, Matt - you will need to aim, too, and that removes your ability to make a FULL-ROUND action and double attack. BIT would need to make 2 aim SWIFT actions to target the pilot who is in the vehicle which provides total cover. I do this because I am allowing the aim to reduce the total cover of the vehicle to Improved cover and then I am also allowing your sniper feat to reduce it further to standard cover. All of which gives you a -5 penalty to your attack... so:
Ranged Sniper blaster rifle* +10-5 for cover (4d10+5) with Rapid Shot and Point Blank Shot versus flat-footed Reflex 16  -  BIT hits
Stormtrooper #1 takes 40 damage - instant kill

ABBY - no DEX mod in the attack with vehicle weapons, Aryn, but here is what I have:
+6 BAB +1 Vehicle Int +1 Point Blank +2 trained pilot -5 Not proficient with Heavy weapons for total +5
Adding that to your roll, I get a roll result of 10 versus flat-footed Ref 10 - Abby hits
Stormtrooper #2 takes 21 damage - instant kill

KAIDA - activates Born Leader
no DEX mod allowed in your attack either, Jared:
+6 BAB +2 Vehicle Int +2 trained pilot -5 not proficient with Heavy weapons = +5
Adding that to your roll, I get a roll result of 10 versus flat-footed Ref 10 - Kaida hits
Stormtrooper #3 takes 17 damage - 17/18 CT -1

Sam hits, but rolls terrible damage. The Sorosuub vehicle takes 25 -5 DR = 20/40 (it will require  Full round action for Sam to reload)

Betty hits against Stormtrooper #4 for 21 damage - instant kill

I have Caden, Farok and Kresh's men to do before I can move on to next round, but my son is calling me a way for a bit.

The trooper commander and his men were suddenly immersed in the sounds of blaster fire, explosions and the screams of the dying. Before he could give any commands to his scouts moving forward, BIT's blaster bolt burnt through the modified SoroSuub's canopy and straight through his driver's helmet. There was a searing pop of a sound from within and then the horrible smell of burnt flesh. The speeder cut left and then hovered to a stop.

At the same time as BIT fired, Abby, Sam and Kaida also went into action. Kaida and her droideka caught the two orbiting speeders in complete surprise, and though she did not kill the trooper she chased, the noblewoman could see the terrible wound on his back that her bike's laser cannon had caused. Betty's one laser appendage opened up and blew the other speeder bike out of the air, the wrecked ruin smashing into a tree.

In front of the barricade, Abby had the same results - her targeted speeder bike being unmanned and then exploding onto the ground. Sam was the only one who did not fair well in his surprise attack. The missile he launched fell short by but a meter and struck before the advanced SoroSuub, exploding as it did. The vehicle's armor was torn apart, but it saved the two remaining individuals within - and it was still a viable threat, though smoke belched from a lacerated hood.

The stormtrooper commander yelled into his commlink but none of his people heard - the scrambler had shutdown all communication and he did not have time to try and burn through the white noise. He grabbed his blaster carbine that was in its mount and then he swung his door open. He no longer felt the wounded speeder was the safest place. Looking back, he saw another speeder bike racing in from the south. Upon it sat two men and one whipped a lightsaber around in flowing arcs.

"A Jedi? But they are supposed to be all dead..." His quiet thoughts were interrupted by more fire as other men began to appear from the treeline to the north of the bridge. Behind his position, his own troops began to react to the ambush.




:ooc: As I said above, I will get this round over in a little bit and get round 2 set up. After this round, we will be back to Initiative order and the troopers will no longer be surprised/flat-footed.

The trooper #1 is dead inside the speeder.

The Jedi felt the emotion of battle rise in him once again. Farok knew by heart the teachings of calm and blankness that the order espoused, but that emptiness seemed to border on the apathetic slackness of a drugged addled addict. It wasn't fear or anger that Farok felt rising to the surface, but the crystal clear singleness of purpose that battle brought, the keen athletic sense of ultimate competition. One hand gripped the ship's Captain as the speeder zoomed in upon the convoy, light saber swirling in its rhythmic way, wooshh woosh woooshhhhh....


A word came then to the mind of the jedi. It bubbled up through the force, or the moment he was not sure, but has his blade came down in a mikashi attack he followed up his traditional battle cry with the word the demanded to be uttered.

"COMMENOR!"

 :ooc: Doug, if Farok has two targets to strike with his lightsaber as the speeder goes by I am going to use Rising Whirlwind to attack both of them. DC is 15 with a UtF check so I'll roll that and another attack roll if this is doable.

:ooc: Okay, first results from Caden and Farok's attacks:

Caden attacks the SoroSuub speeder successfully and does 23 -5 (DR) for a total of 18/40 damage

Farok... Tom, you guys are rushing out against vehicles. There are no visible troopers except the one that stands in the gunner cupola of the SoroSuub speeder that Caden just blasted. Second, you can't use Rising Whirlwind unless you fight with two sabers, and last - you did not perform a Charge action (you're on the back of the speeder) so Maniacal Charge cannot be brought into play. I will go ahead and allow the intimidate anyway, because you are shouting your war chants and a Jedi hasn't been seen since the end of the Clone Wars. Final note is Initiative is only rolled once in Star Wars, so you don't need to add that to the end of your rounds in this game (only in LotR if we ever get back there  ;) )

Farok successfully attacks the stormtrooper (#6) gunner in the SoroSuub speeder as they pass by for 14/18 CT -1 damage

 :ooc: ok dually noted. However, when I took the feat I asked you if I could use it one handed because of  my fighting style and you okayed it and said it was ok for Farok to mechanically do the same thing with one light saber.

So, with your second saber attack you hit the speeder itself for 20 damage for 38/40 and you gain 20 extra HP for the duration of this combat.

First roll was a nat 20, so damage is doubled
26 -5 (DR) = 21 for 41/40 damage vehicle is disabled (not destroyed because damage threshold was not overcome) CT -10

The second blaster fire hits for 14 damage which is above the vehicle's adjusted damage threshold which causes the vehicle to blow. Each trooper left alive near it takes 7 damage from the blast.

SC1 takes 7/71
Trooper 5 takes 7/18

I have one more team to do and then I will set up round two. Maybe these troopers will get a chance to fire!
