Gwaithlim dismounts in a swift move, unsheathing his blade to stand with the Dunadan friend and protect the mounts from these dark creatures.
:ooc: I forgot last round that Hathcyn needed to be in Forward stance to do his Intimidating thing. I've no wish to go back and adjust things, so I'm just going to assume he's shifted back into Defensive stance unless and until I hear otherwise.
Her eyes wide and her mouth open in fear, Luindîs nocks another arrow and looses it at a warg not three paces away. To one side, the taller Elf moves to stand by Esgalwen as about them all the snarling of hungry wolves mixes with the dull sound of steel weapons biting fur and flesh.
:ooc: Luindîs will attack again (TN 21)

Matt, to be clear, is Gwaithlim attacking anything, or just guarding Esgalwen and the remaining horses?
The shaft speeds forth and is instantly lost in the confusion and rain. Where it strikes home, none can say, save that no cry or howl of pain marks the end of its flight.
Hathcyn gripped his spear and seeing an opening plunged it into the grey maned warg.

I believe that's a protection test great success.
:ooc: Oh he'll attack too if he can, I thought you said that dismounting was considered an action though.
The tall elf swipes at the snarling beast that first attacked his mount.

:ooc: Gaaah you're absolutely right. Apologies for not remembering my own rule. We're just waiting on Doug now.
:ooc: In the meantime, let's see about that Protection test for the grey-maned warg:

Distracted by the scent of blood, the warg that had a moment ago menaced Hathcyn turns its head away. Serpent-swift, the Longspear plunges the steel head of his namesake into the side of the beast's neck. Not a sound does the warg make as it collapses, its blood mixing with that of horses and Men as the rain and battle churn the earth into a charnel morass.
:ooc: And I just realised that Doug's action was in the thread for last round. Man, I'm on fucking fire this week.
NEVER MIND! The surviving wargs attack Gwaithlim:

:ooc: Aaaaaaaand this is why TOR combat is always dangerous! Gwaithlim loses five Endurance and needs a Protection roll vs TN 14:

The leaf bladed point of the spear sinks to the crossbar and locks on bone preventing it from passing all the way through. With a practiced eye the Longspear knows that the beast will no longer move again in life.
"Carrock!" He cries to inspire those around him.
