Hathcyn gritted his teeth. He needed to get up there or the Firewatcher would stand little chance.
Rolled 1d12 : 7, total 7
Rolled 2d6 : 1, 2, total 3
:ooc: Ok....so Athletics is favoured I forget how this works. If I spend a point of hope I can add 8 right? That will put me over the TN I believe. If so :vv:
Trying to help out his companions keep the trolls occupied while the others approach, the elf steadies himself to get a good shot.

Rolled 2d6 : 4, 6, total 10
:ooc: So that's 3 bonus dice for my next shot?
:ooc: That will give you 2 extra dice next round, Matt, as that is a Great Success (1 :%: )
To me - due to action allowance - the special actions do not seem to offer much for a PC. I'd rather pump damage into them each turn. But with your PC new, I can see where you need the extra action dice.
Esgalwen watches as Arbogast is hammered backward towards the edge of the cliff he just mounted, and she knows he will not be able to sustain such damage for long. She looks to the arrow in her hand and whispers a small prayer,
"Fly swift. Fly true."The arrow was nocked and she drew the string to her cheek and let it fly at the stony-skinned troll.

:ooc: Well then, let's have a Protection test:

Once again, Esgalwen's arrow streaks into the sky to lodge with a sharp splintering sound in the side of the troll. This time, the shaft sinks deep, dark troll blood spurting out to cover the fletching as the creature's eyes widen and it claps one vast hand to its side. Hathcyn takes advantage of the sudden opening to clamber over the edge of the bluff and unsling his spear as the second brute turns its tusky face toward him. "Fire-watcher," he calls, "do you live?"
"Worse have I survived!" comes the reply.
On the lower slope, Gwaithlim listens, trying to judge by sound alone where stand troll and Man lest he loose an arrow at a friend. Why must Men rush into these things! he cannot help but think.
:ooc: Nice shot, Doug. It doesn't feel quite right to use Hideous Toughness on a wounding hit, so the troll won't and takes the full 13 damage.
Arbogast will spend a Hope point to use his Hunter's Resolve and regain seven Endurance.

:ooc: Thanks for the reprieve, Paul! Just to be fair, though, Esgalwen only hit for 7 damage - but feel free to keep it at 13 if you want. ;D I wasn't sure if the trolls had any special ability to their protection rolls, otherwise I would have done it for you. I see what it is now and will take care of them in the future - understanding you have LM caveat to retract the roll for something I am not sure they can do, i.e. Hideous Toughness. Although, I will say that I don't thing HT can negate a hit - only the Endurance loss.
