Apparently undeterred by the demise of its compatriots, a third goblin leaps at Grimbeorn, brandishing a stone-headed spear. It feints and thrusts, trying to find a way past his enormous elven shield. Nearby, another goblin hisses like an angry tomcat as it bounds toward Hathcyn, darting under his spear as the bent-nosed goblin sidles away, its feet still nimble though it labours in vain to stem the flow of blood from a terrible wound in its belly.
By the back door, the women of the hall scream and scatter as Esgalwen pulls her sword from the grey-skinned goblin's chest, letting it drop to the ground where its blood soaks into the bare earth floor. The women's cries mix with the screeching of two more goblins that rush the Ranger, trying to overpower her before she can once more raise her blade.

:ooc: just an FYI- my TN is 15 due to my Skirmisher trait.
:ooc: Split-tongue and Drooler will both spend a point of Hate to engage their Horrible Strength. As a result, Grimbeorn and Esgalwen each lose six Endurance. Ouch.

:ooc: Dammit - it's right there in your signature, too! I've fixed the mechanical stuff.
Cruder though the goblins' weapons are even more so than those of other orcs, the large, bony hands that clutch them are shockingly strong, and both Esgalwen and Grimbeorn are taxed by the effort it takes to deflect stone spear-heads. Hathcyn gives ground, trying to bring his own spear-point to bear but the hissing goblin follows closely, driving him steadily away from his kinsman and lord.
Having avoided Hathcyn, the bent-nosed goblin breaks, not for the door as Grimbeorn expected and moves already to block, but for the rafters. The strength of forest goblins is demonstrated once again as it climbs the timbers supporting the ceiling, finding a high perch within seconds.
:ooc: The bent-nosed goblin, being up high, is out of reach of sword or axe. Hathcyn can reach it with his longspear, though the angle isn't great (the goblin's Parry goes up by 3), or Esgalwen can shoot arrows at it if she gets free of her current assailants.
Two goblins crowded in on her, stabbing with spears as they did but Esgalwen held her ground. Seeing the success of her companion, she drew Nimronyn high over head and then swept it down towards both of her assailants.
:ooc: Going to follow Matt's example and perform a Sweeping Attack (-2d); the weapon is also held two-handed. I will use my advantage die at need.

With the goblin jumping out reach, Grimbeorn alters his attack at the last minute, aiming for the split-tongued goblin.

my dice rolling is so epically bad, but at least its consistent.
:ooc: Once again, some Protection rolls purely for form's sake (both at TN 18):

:ooc: Wow, both pretty close but, as my father is fond of saying, "a man who can almost swim still drowns". Doug, over to you for some appropriately spectacular description.
The split-tongued and hissing goblins both lose nine Endurance.
Her motion was fluid and the keen edge of Nimronyn carried the sword cleanly through both the necks of the goblins.
THUMP. THUMP.
There was a scream behind Esgalwen - one of Maracar's women-folk who was being held captive - due to the grisly death of the two creatures. The Ranger turned to her and made a calming gesture, "It is okay. You are safe now. Are there more besides these?"
