Todar was reeling from the light of the stone. The close proximity of Bandy within the small structure was making the creature back away as much as possible, but there was no where to go. The troll shoved into the hovel's wall and dust, stone, and wood tumbled down around them all. The result was to create further panic from Todar who also feared the sun in the sky.

This was not supposed to occur! Enemies did not assault the ford - at least none had dared to prior.

The troll felt restrained within the small shelter that had been meant only to keep the stone from harming him.

Panic and fear turned to rage and the monster struck out at the only one he could - not the small Hobbit who carried the hated Light, but the one next to him.

The troll's wild swing is easily ducked, and as he does so, Arbogast sees for the first time how the the creature recoils from the light of Bandy's stone like a wild beast from a burning brand.  For all its fury, the troll never strikes too near to the Hobbit.  Bandy, he realises, is in danger only if the thing should inadvertently tread on him.

As the troll lashes out again, he decides that he will be more help outside the hut than in.  Choosing his moment carefully, he dashes out the doorway and crouches by the side of the wall.  The sunlight is somehow less bright than that of the stone, and he pauses to rub the spots from his eyes - and to catch his breath, for the heretofore ignored pain of the troll's stone now begins to weigh on him.

:ooc: If it's relevant, I'm still in Defensive stance.  I'll try for a Second Wind:

:ooc: Looks like he's hurt, and no two ways about it!

Doug, is bringing the hut down going to be a prolonged action (p 149)?  If so, would it be based on Craft (in which case Arbogast can't really help) or Athletics (in which case he might be able to), or something else?

:ooc: don't forget that Arbogast has a bonus success die available.

As for the structure, it will be a combination of skills to find the weakness and exploit it through strength.

Evaluation skills will be: craft

Bringing it down will be athletics

Though he was weary, though he was wounded the stout Halfling was not afraid while bathed in the light of Elbereth. Dust choked his lungs and debris filled the air as the troll thrashed about the cabin. Dodging the flailing blows of the troll the Hobbit sought to find purchase with his ancient blade and to buy his friends time.

The Dwarf could hear the scuffle and roar of the troll within the structure, as Bandy held it at bay through the light of his stone. Rorin's crafty-mind worked quickly to appraise the stone and wood to find its weakness; to find where the load-bearing stones were within the mix. It did not take long for his keen eyes to find it, and he placed his hands upon the large slab in hopes to find a grip. If he could wrench it free, the pile of wood above would tumble from above and reveal the interior of the structure to the sun.

Esgalwen had been standing at the ready to race in and help Bandy and Arbogast, but the interior space of the troll's hut was quite limited - especially for swinging and stabbing weapons. While she waited to see an opportunity, the activity of Rorin caught her eye. She saw the Dwarf had found what he was looking for and was trying to work the large stone out of the stack.

Sheathing her sword, Esgalwen quickly grabbed a long branch that lay on the rocky riverside and raced to aid her friend. Using the branch like a lever, she wedged it into the stack of stones and pushed.

:ooc: Anyone who works on bringing down the troll hut - it will need to be an Extended-test with an aggregate of 80. What this means is each person must make a successful Athletics test TN 14 result to be counted. If successful, each roll will be added up. Once the aggregate reaches 80, the structure will begin cave in and fall apart. If questions, feel free to ask.

Crap, just realized that I've already taken my action for this round....

I'll be gone at a wedding all weekend, so if you could just apply these rolls to the next round that would be great!  ;D
Rorin's priority is the hut until it's taken down.
