:ooc: I need Grimbeorn, Rorin and Arbogast's stances.
Title: Re: The ford - round 1

:ooc: Gaushnol will spend a point of Hate to activate for this round his Wicked Cunning - this increases his Parry rank by the amount of the base stance number that your PC is in (thus for Esgalwen to attack him, his Parry rating goes up by 9).

The orc will immediately attack Grimbeorn:
TN 10+ broad-bladed sword 3d+6
:00: 1d12 : 11, total 11
Rolled 3d6+6 : 4, 2, 1 + 6, total 13

:dmg: 6   edge: 10   injury: 14

If he achieves a great or extraordinary result, I will spend a Hate to Savage Assault (allows a second attack with alternate weapon). If the result is not enough, this roll is igrnored:
TN 10+ orc-axe 3d
:00: 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 3d6 : 1, 6, 6, total 13

:dmg: 6   edge:  :~~:    injury: 16

Todar takes aim from inside his hut and will hurl a stone at Rorin
TN 4+ hurl stone 2d6+7
:00: 1d12 : 11, total 11
Rolled 2d6+7 : 3, 4 + 7, total 14

:dmg: 7   edge:  :~~:    injury: 14

I will determine successes on these attacks after you guys let me know what your stances are. I'd appreciate honesty in the sense that picking Rearward would create a miss, even though you had no intention of picking that stance.  ;)

:ooc: Grimbeorn will start in Defensive stance.  Dang -- 2  :~~: for the baddies!
Title: Re: The ford - round 1
Post by: tomcat on Mar 15, 2017, 01:37 PM
:ooc: Holy Jeez! I guess it doesn't matter stances as both baddies rolled  :~~: 's!

BUT - Gaushnol did not achieve a great or extraordinary success so his second attack (and Hate point expense) is ignored. (Good thing because that second hit would have been an Extraordinary success for 18 END loss!)

RESULTS
• Gaushnol slices into Grimbeorn with a :~~: success. He will spend a 1 Hate point here to increase END to 12 -and- Grimbeorn must make a TN 14 protection test. Grimbeorn is now considered WEARY

• Rorin is hit by a large stone with a :~~: success for 7 END loss and he must make a TN 14 protection test

Grimbeorn protection test
TN 14 armour +1
:00: 1d12+1 : 6 + 1, total 7

Rorin protection test
TN 14 armour 5d
:00: 1d12 : 1, total 1
Rolled 5d6 : 6, 6, 1, 6, 5, total 24

Bandy saw the Orc come alive with action and the nightmare of battle began to unfold against his friends that had already been wounded.

A feint whistle followed by the soft thud of arrow into flesh, then the orc screamed and drew his weapons.

Already Rorin had sprung into action, quickly ridding himself of the loose rope hung over his wrist he ran towards the orc, grabbing his hammer from Arbogast's back as he passed. The Dwarf's eyes narrowed on the scarred and hideous orc-warrior and he did not see the stone come flying through the air towards him until it was too late. A rock the size of his own head struck him in the side and knocked him off of his feet. Rorin rolled as he hit the ground and quickly regained his footing, without a moment to spare to assess the damage to himself or his armor he pressed forward trusting that the thick plate held and would continue to protect him.

As he reached the orc Rorin saw that Grimbeorn had suffered a debilitating wound, he positioned himself between the two and spoke as he brought back his hammer, "Here's your chance to gut me orc, you best make good use of it."

:ooc:
Rorin will take Forward Stance and attack normally

 :ooc:

I had my post in progress for the last couple hours at work since before Telcontar posted last, that's why the tampered tag popped up.

That is both a great success and a piercing blow against the Orc

:ooc: RESULT ... Damn, Rorin!

Rorin hits Gaushnol with a 31 great success for 16 END loss and the orc needs to make a protection test

Gaushnol will spend a Hate point to activate Hideous Toughness and reduce the END loss by 6

Protection test
TN 18 armour 3d+1

Rolled 3d6+1 : 3, 6, 2 + 1, total 12

:ooc: Gaushnol is now considered Wounded.

Just so you all know, this orc is a named Loremaster character and so doesn't fall under the standard wound him and kill him rules. He will need to be killed like a PC.

The troll on the other hand, he is a standard monster.

The orc staggered backward from Rorin's hammer, an explosion of air came from his lungs along with a crack of bone. Seeing her opportunity to move, too, Esgalwen pulled her hands free of the ropes and ran to stand by the Dwarf, grabbing her sword from Arbogast as she did. The scabbard was flung free and the Ranger swung a vicious two-handed attack.

:ooc: Esgalwen attacks

TN 23 longsword 4d

With Gaushnol hard pressed by his comrades, Arbogast seizes the chance to dash past him, readying his shield and axe.  The foetor that emanates from the troll's hut is enough to give him brief pause, but the terrified sounds coming from the huddled figures outside the hut renew his resolve.  Nodding to Bandy on the roof, he treads lightly but quickly to where the thralls crouch, tied by a coarse rope to a large stone.  Thick though the rope is, it parts like water beneath the Warden's Axe.

"Stand ready," he says.  "My friends and I will assist you if we may.  But should the fight go against us, you must fly this place!"

Then, shield raised, he approaches the opening.

:ooc: You can assume Arbogast is in Open stance unless I say otherwise.  Knowing that there's a rock-throwing troll in the hut, though, he'll be in Defensive stance for now.

Hefting his shield from his back to his forearm, Grimbeorn raised His axe and swung at the orc. "How about we take your life as payment for all those you've condemned filth!"

:ooc: Grimbeorn fights defensively, removing one die for +2 parry.

:ooc: Yikes!  Let's hope the dice fall your way from here on in!  If you take one more direct hit, you'll be out cold and dying from your wounds.  If that hit is a piercing blow, then you'll skip right past the dying part, straight into the undiscovered country.

Either way, I'm not sure that we have the capacity to carry you with us AND chase Ruthiel's captors.

 :ooc: I think I'm up.

Bandy saw the battle unfolding below him and knew his friends were already weary and wounded. The Hobbit tried to contribute in his own small way with another arrow.
