MASS COMBAT |
:~~: | One of the Viglundings is slain. If rolled again in the following round, Argil is gravely wounded. |
1, 2 | The allies are hard-pressed to hold the enemy back. One of the Viglundings is wounded – or, if any are already wounded, then one of them is slain. |
3 | The Viglundings hold their line and keep fighting. |
4, 5 | The allies fight bravely, pushing the enemy back. Warg and Wolf blood spills across the hilltop. If this result is rolled twice in a row, then the allies slay one of the wolves! |
6, 7 | One of the wolves is slain. |
8, 9 | Two of the wolves are slain. |
10 | A warg is slain. |
:g: | Saradag is gravely wounded. |
:ooc: I have more to edit above, but I am going to bed due to an early meeting. I will update more tomorrow.
:ooc: A pre-emptive Battle roll:
Rolled 1d12 : 3, total 3
Rolled 3d6 : 1, 6, 2, total 9
:ooc: Dammit, so close! I'll spend a Hope point to turn that into a great success.
On the subject, Doug, I'm thinking that you just haven't had a chance to update the PC stats from our last combat, but Arbogast's Hope should be 13 (or 12, now). I suspect the others will also have higher totals.
:ooc: Yea, I was still in the process of updating. I have to point out that Rorin's sheet only reflects 6 of 10 Hope - did he not get any of the Fellowship pool back? Or was his sheet just not updated?
Remaining PC battle rolls:
TN 14 battle - all PC's have 2d, except Rorin who has 3d:00: Bandy 1d12 : 1, total 1
Rolled 2d6 : 5, 1, total 6
:00: Esgalwen 1d12 : 2, total 2
Rolled 2d6 : 4, 1, total 5
:00: Grimbeorn 1d12 : 3, total 3
Rolled 2d6 : 6, 5, total 11
:00: Rorin 1d12 : 1, total 1
Rolled 3d6 : 5, 4, 4, total 13
:ooc:
I just forgot to go back and update the sheet for that.
It's fixed now :csu:
Instantly recognizing the name, all Grimbeorn said to Arbogast was "Find the girl." The Beorning's mind was once again set for battle. He knew these creatures were of the foulest of hearts and only understood the law of tooth and fang. Shrugging off any pretense of disguise he had, the heir of Beorn set for the hillock in search of the devil clothed in wolf-hide with his Bear Claw in hand and elven shield in the other.
:ooc: It is going to take four combat rounds for Arbogast and Grimbeorn, along with the farmers, to cover the distance (150 yards based on 15-20 seconds average to run 100 yards - per Google) to the combat. The opening volley will count for one of these rounds, so they will all be able to act in round 4.
• The five wolves will be the only targets in the opening volley.
• The wargs will not reach the engagement until round 3, as they were maneuvering around the hill. So, when the farmer sees them charging up the hill, the encounter had already begun.
The farmer's wife yelled from the door, "She is in here! She is safe!"
"Then who, or what, is on the hill?" asked the young farm boy.
"We must find out," said Argil as he hefted his axe and began to run in pursuit of Grimbeorn.
Arbogast, now relieved of any need to help find the girl, also turned in chase of the others.
On the hilltop, the companions heard and saw the oncoming wolves. Esgalwen drew an arrow and quickly nocked it to string and the let the missile fly. Bandy followed her lead, while Arbogast moved his armored bulk between the archers and the oncoming pack. His axe swung back and forth in preparation to glean himself a nice wolf pelt.
:ooc: Esgalwen fires her arrow
TN 17 great bow 2d:00: 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 2d6 : 1, 6, total 7
:dmg: 7 edge: 10 injury: 16
The arrow flew wild and thudded into the soft earth, even as a wolf loped past. Esgalwen cursed her ill aim. It was not her weapon of choice, but since she carried it she had given it a try.
Dropping the bow where she stood, she drew forth Nimronyn and stepped up to stand next to Rorin. This wave of wolves would crash upon Dwarf and Gondorian mettle.
:ooc: Tom, go ahead and give me your opening attack in this thread, but I am going to go ahead and post Round 1.
"Oh bother!" The halfling sprung to his feet and faced their new foe. "This land is bound and determined to either make me a warrior or kill, I dont know which."
Rolled 1d12 : 10, total 10
Rolled 4d6 : 6, 6, 1, 6, total 19
