"NO!" shouted Esgalwen when Arbogast hit the ground. He did not move and his blood blackened the soil even more. "NO!" she repeated, the word hissing out full of anger. She swung her blade at the wight before her.

The world shifts beneath him as Arbogast struggles back to his feet.  His mind cannot hold a clear thought, and Esgalwen's shout sounds further away than the barrow could possibly allow.  Still, there is a warrior's work to be done.  Someone (a man.  A kinsman? A friend?) must be defended.  Must be taken from this place.  To home, where someone with golden hair and a sweet voice await...

The wight-king's corroded sword glints a dim, infernal red in the firelight as it strikes once and again at the Woodman.  Arbogast takes one blow and then another on the haft of his axe, leaving deep notches in the hardened wood.  A third strike batters him down to the floor.  He tries to lift his axe again, but can barely raise the head above where a dry and withered leg emerges from a bronze greave, green with verdigris.  Above him, the sword of the wight-king begins to descend in a motion as inevitable as the setting of the sun.

Accepting his doom, Arbogast lets the axe head drop.  He barely comprehends as he sees it bight through skin, knee-bones and brittle tendons, sending the body of the ancient king tumbling like a dropped stone.  He does not hear the sword break in twain upon the stone of the sarcophagus.

With an unearthly shriek, the wight-king attempts to stand.  But Bandobras' oil pot has splattered the stones, leaving them dark and slick, and dead hands find no purchase upon it.  Arbogast does not hear as the unwholesome thing calls to its master, pleading for aid.  All he knows is the sudden brightness and warmth as the flames on its robes reach the oil, and the creature is entirely enveloped in flames.  The spirit within - a thing of darkness and cold - cannot withstand, and cannot escape.  Within moments, it is no more, and what was the wight-king of the East Bight shines bright.

Arbogast finds the fire pleasing.  He will watch it a while.

Bandy knew he was rubbish with the sword and the fall of the Wight King gave him hope in their cause and a greater belief in the merit of fire. Holding on to luck that the flames wouldnt collapse the barrow down upon them he lit and let fly another clay pot.

Rorin watched as his companions poured through the entrance to the dark room and furiously attacked the dark beings hovering over Caewin. He yearned to fight along side them and he strained his frozen limbs once more. He could not yet push himself upright but it felt as though he had just broken through a stone wall and he felt some strength come rushing back into his body. Just a few more moments....

:ooc: Actually, Matt - that was the exact number you needed to hit them in Forward position.

• Grimbeorn has a Success and causes BW2 and BW3 7 END loss
• Bandy throws his second pot of flaming oil and misses with a 14 vs. TN 16; but I am going to allow this to play against the BW's morale...especially with the death of their 'king'.

Abrogast is my fellowship focus. If Burning hope for Body will hit the TN then I will spend the Hope.

:ooc: That will do it, dude.

I have to figure out how to use Fellowship since we don't really have game sessions. By the rules, since Arbogast is your focus, you should also take on 1 point of Shadow since he was wounded.

Going to puzzle through those rules tonight.

Anyway, it was a hit...

BW2 takes 8 END loss and must make a TN 20
TN 20 armour 2d+8
:00: 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 2d6+8 : 1, 2 + 8, total 11

:ooc: That is cool.

I will figure out a better way to monitor Fellowship. So, if we are retro-ing the characters, Bandy then should add one Shadow point, too, for Arbogast's barrow wound.  :csu:
