note: Just so you know, I gave some GM benefits with your gear lists above - and I did this because Kaida has been going on about assuring there is ample supply of medical gear. But also, no one has ever said anything about making sure they have enough consumable ammunition (except maybe Kaida and Logar). I am not a stickler on this stuff, but when the PC's go into action with limited resources I will keep watch of this - that way it makes you guys have to make best decisions.
Anyway, I have added 2 medpacs per person, and 2 ammunition packs to your primary weapons, otherwise it is based on your character's stat block.
Kaida and Logar watched as the hail of blaster fire and bullets ripped into the blind within the tree and overcome both of the snipers that took refuge there. One of the bodies fell off of the ledge and tumbled down through the branches to splash into the boggy water below.
Fett and Sam drew together on the opposite side of the marsh and also saw the snipers die. Fett transmitted, "Looks like that threat is done. Be prepared for more."
Behind them all, their friends were dealing with threats of their own - the three large cat-like nexu pressed their attacks.
Down the valley where it took a turn to the north, an old three-story watch tower stood. Trevulo was a Dug mercenary that had been hired by Pugwis to command this junction in the valley approach. Ever since Sebolto had been slain, his successor had decided to set up a better defense along the valley that led to the palace. And so, Pugwis had ordered a large rampart to be built to narrow access through the junction and cause any invaders to suffer badly should they try to attack.
But as it is with most things, time and money both change the way things are handled. Time passed and no one else came up the valley to threaten the Dug palace and deathstick production. Funding was pulled and most assets were re-appropriated for more useful purposes. Now Trevulo suffered his command of twenty-five fellow mercenaries. He had six others of his own species which he held a close camaraderie with, and then there were eighteen Gran. Though he despised the three-eyed invaders, they had good eyesight and made for efficient snipers and turret gunners.
When the sounds of two ships flying low over the jungle canopy was heard, Trevulo had dispatched two of his Dug companions on speeder bikes to follow the length of the valley and see if there was any threat. It was now over an hour and a half since he had heard a word from them. Then there was the sound of explosions far off and blaster fire close in. Trevulo knew that his first sniper position had had to have been compromised and overcome. Not for the first time today, the Dug commander cursed in his native tongue for the lack of communication gear that he had at this miserable post. | (http://rpg.avioc.org/webimages/starwars/jungle01.jpg) |
The Dug climbed the ladder up to the top of the tower and nodded to the Gran that stood ready on the E-web blaster cannon. The tripod weapon was quite intimidating and he would make sure that if any attackers were coming up his valley, they would pay. Trevulo also looked up and to his right. He couldn't see them but his nod in the direction told the snipers there to be ready. Down below, on the rampart wall, his other four Dugs walked patrol. Trevulo gave himself a grim smile - if this wasn't enough, then his second layer of defense past the rampart would shred any surviving attackers to bits.
With the threat of the snipers removed, Fett hit his comlink, "This is Fett to Caden. Snipers are eliminated. What is your status? We are ready to advance. Are you in need of assistance with the nexu?"
The bounty hunter had transmitted openly even though he had only addressed Caden, he waited for any reply.
:ooc: Will hold actions until he gets an answer from the other characters as to whether they want him and Sam to draw back to help. Although I will say his SWIFT action has been used to make the communication.
:ooc: I am waiting for Farok and Sam to chime in and then I will make the Nexu attacks.
Sam considered the probabilites and, statistically, the team engaged with the Nexu were likely sufficient to overcome their foe. It would likely be over before he got there anyway. Sam glanced at Fett and advanced towards the sniper blind. He would ensure the enemies were down and check the location.
Farok danced with the giant cat as they both looked for opportunities to attack. In a swinging arc the lightsaber came down once more on the beast.

Sam strode out into the marsh to where the huge mangrove tree sprouted from the water. He looked up and could see the slain body of one of the snipers laying there, and then down into the bog at the other one. The droid saw that they were both Grans - not indigenous to Malastare, but there was quite a large population that had immigrated to the planet. The number of Gran caused the native Dugs to rebel against the migration, but the Republic had sided with the Gran. Sam knew from his data memory that the Dugs now had a nasty taste for the Gran and even the Republic.
The dead sniper lay half submerged, his blaster carbine sitting on his chest. Sam could see the gran also had a headset comlink, but it was now immersed in the water. He wondered if it would still work.
The Nexu bounded back from Farok's attack and skidded to a halt with its long claws dug into the mud. The warrior was pleased to see that he had opened up the creature's shoulder.

"Wouldn't hurt," Caden snapped sarcastically as he aimed his blaster at the nearest creature and fired.

:ooc: Okay, thanks for the heads up on that, Tom. I had forgotten he picked up the blasters.
Shawn, I am going to help a little here... first, designate Nexu 2 for your Dodge bonus for the duration of the encounter. It is only +1, but every bit helps - if you don't want to do this, let me know. Second, you are at Point Blank range and so get the benefit of your talent of +1 to attack and damage, so you hit with a 16 (which is the DC) for 18 damage - I am also going to assume you are attacking Nexu 2, otherwise you would suffer the Firing into Melee combat penalty. BUT... I did just realize that you suffer the -1 conditional penalty, so the question is - Do you want to use a FP to secure the hit and do 18 damage?
Fett takes two MOVE actions back towards the others.

Logar looked to Kaida for what was next. "If we grab the bikes we can get to the group faster?"
Kaida nodded to Logar. "I agree. Fett," she called into her team's mic. "Move back to help Caden and the others, we'll be right behind you on the speeders." She ran back to where they had stowed the bikes and leaping on started the engine.
:ooc: not sure how long all of that will take in round format, but she'll do go to bike, start it and begin moving toward the fight.
:ooc: After looking at Caden's character block, he could spend the FP and gain that +1 attack - and a bit more, for the rest of the encounter - by spending it on his Fool's Luck talent. Can I just do that instead?
