Title: Round 3 - To save their kin!

The situation would have become grave for the three Dwarf warriors that had led the charge, but for the Company members who threw themselves into the fray. Edrahil's magic caused Bin to temporarily lose his vision and Ort was hard pressed by the three opponents that faced off on him. Those odds quickly changed as the troll's club struck Fengel and knocked him to the ground - the warrior's chest screamed in pain with every breath he drew. Fengel rolled over onto his knees and struggled to regain his feet.

Rushing into the midst of the combat came Nain, Dirnhael and the now free and armed Dwarves!



Situation: The trolls are engaged! See the image to see your character's position and give me initiative rolls and your actions plus any narrative.

Situational Modifiers: Faint Light -2, Size mods 4 for Dwarves, 2 for Men/Elves (+ or - is relative to whether you are attacking or defending)

Troll Stats: Standard health levels for these baddies... sorry  :( ;) ; TN 10 defence

Physical Modifiers: Edrahil is -1 Winded; Dwarf 3 is -3 Injured; Dwolin is -5 Wounded (due to the sheer number of combatants, I may just deem him out of the fight); Fengel is -0 Dazed (Hardy Edge) but is knocked prone; Ort is -0 Dazed (Hardy Edge); Bin is -0 Dazed (Hardy Edge) and -5 to all sight actions for 3 more rounds

The situation was quickly degrading, they needed to press the attack quickly or find a way to get everyone out.  But with the battle already not going their way they would be hard pressed to get everyone out without suffering further losses. 

No, the only solution was to fight and win this battle.

As he watched Fengel go down, Dirnhael charged headlong at the troll attacking his injured friend.
Slamming up against the troll's thick hide with his shield, Dirnhael pulled Vorandur back and thrust at the beast with all his might...

Durgil must be hitting some sort of sweet spot as he's been able to do appreciable damage to the troll even though it remains on a rampage.  He picks up the pace on his attack for the longer time passes, the more peril he and his friends are in.

Action 1 -  RC: Bows - 6*+11+2 Specialty +2 Size Mod +2 Rivendell Bow -2 Faint Light = 21 EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS
Free Action - [QUICK DRAW] Draws another arrow
Action 2 - RC: Bows - 12*+2*+11+2 Specialty +2 Size Mod +2 Rivendell Bow -2 Faint Light = 29 EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS
Damage - (6+1)+1=8+(5+1) = 14
Damage - (4+4)+1=9+(6+6) = 21

OOC: Yes, I'm keeping the 9.  I thought I'd posted it but it may not have gotten saved, it happens sometimes.

IC:
Nain tried to move past Seriand to get between him and one of the dwarves that he'd helped save (Dwarf 4) close to the Troll named Ort where he can make some use of his own axe.

Final note... Nain, your attack cleaved into the now dead Ort assisting in the Coup de Grace; Fengel and Edrahil, give me your rolls as you can... thanks.



Gnash watched as more Men and Dwarves ran up to confront him and Ort, his leader taking on more than himself. A tall one with a briliant, flashing sword made three well placed strokes into Ort and the great troll staggered forward onto one knee, his black blood spilling onto the cave floor. It was then that one of the Dwarves leapt up, his axe raised over his head and he brought it down, smashing into the top of Ort's skull. Moments later, a second Dwarf landed a blow into his spine and Ort's body went limp - his huge mass fell forward,  spasming a few times as life departed.

"D'ey kill't Ort, Bin! D'ey kill't Ort!" Gnash called out, rage filling the troll. Then two of the once captive Dwarves landed vicious attacks on Gnash, along with one of their rescuers. His club held in a vice-like grip, Gnash retaliated, bringing the weapon up and down in quick succession leaving the crumpled remains of one of Durin's folk on the ground.

Not far away, the blinded Bin lashed out with his club but found no targets. His opponents on the other hand, found him an easy target and again he was cut and pierced by arrows.

Finally able to stand, Fengel saw the huge creature go down, his massive body shaking the ground as it hit.  It seemed that they might be able to overcome the trolls after all.  Or maybe not.. Fengel turned as the one called Gnash yelled out, and saw the fury of the troll smash the life out of one of the dwarves.  He moved quickly to fill in the gap.  He droped his shield, and raised Cerduil for a two handed slash.
