Hathcyn quickly jerked the reigns to get the attention of the beasts and then calmed them enough to mount the beasts. Boosting Harhold on to one of the mounts. He quickly followed suit.
"Grimbeorn! We must go, there are too many and all others are lost."

Grimbeorn continues to fend off the orc troop as he tries to get to the horses and escape.
The darkness fell like pitch upon the field of slaughter. The night time sounds of a farm at night had been transformed into the groans of the dying and the screech of horses being butchered on the hoof. The field had been completely and utterly lost by the folk of Beorn. Two only of the men that followed the scion of the house into battle still lived and each bore wounds of honor that they had not shirked their duty even in defeat. So many lost men on the first foray of Grimbeorn Wolfslayer would wear heavy in the thegns. His personal courage was never in doubt, but now his ability to lead would be called in to question. So long as he survived the night.
"Grimbeorn! The field is lost leave us not defeated and lordless both. Quit the field! Tarry not for us or for the sake of the dead. Come, even the bear knows when the sting of the bees is too great."
The steed bearing the disfigured, but living, body of Harhold moved into the gathering darkness. While Hathcyn upon his mount danced upon the outer ring of the raiders just out of reach. He was loathe to leave should his lord be surrounded and hoped instead to join him in flight.
A disparity is becoming evident among the orcs that continue to harry Grimbeorn. The larger creatures, thinking perhaps of the still-warm meat that awaits them when the fighting is over, appear to be losing their enthusiasm for further violence. The smaller goblins, however, seem to be enjoying their pursuit in the darkness, and it is their continuing hoots and barks that draw their larger cousins on.
:ooc: The orcs continue trying to bring Grimbeorn down.

A cast spear thuds into the ground not far from where Grimbeorn's foot was a moment ago, and he feels the impact of an iron blade on his shield, but the son of Beorn is still hale and whole.
