MASS COMBAT |
:~~: | One of the Woodmen is slain. If rolled again in the following round, Geirbald is gravely wounded. |
1, 2 | The allies are hard-pressed to hold the enemy back. One of the Woodmen is wounded – or, if any are already wounded, then that one is slain. The defensive circle is being pressed - if this is rolled again, the raiders also slay a horse. |
3 - 5 | The Woodmen hold their line and keep fighting. |
6, 7 | The allies fight bravely, pushing the enemy back. Black raider blood spills across the field. If this result is rolled twice in a row, then the allies slay one of the raiders! |
8 | One of the raiders is slain. |
9 | Two of the raiders are slain. |
10 | Three of the raiders are slain. |
:g: | Four of the raiders are slain. |
With terrible surprise, the arrows of the Company hissed into the ranks of men and orcs. The shafts thudded into the ground, but also into flesh taking one raider's life before he could even rise to the screams of his companions. The leader of the group reeled in pain as a pair of arrows, skillfully winded by the Hobbit, pierced through his flesh. Even as he attempted to call out orders, the remaining companions smashed into the small host - their ambush a devastating success.
Her bow discarded, Esgalwen charged in to a forward position with
Nimronyn flashing brightly over her head.
:ooc: Okay, for the rest of this battle Geirbald and his men will operate from the Mass Combat table.

Esgalwen hits for 7 END loss against warrior (man) 6 killing him.
:ooc: Can Grimbeorn find the leader/chieftain in the fray?
:ooc: sure
Arbogast stands shoulder to shoulder with Geirbald's followers as they advance. Though small, their shieldwall holds strong as the orcs crash upon it. Arbogast has enough time to see bright steel flash in the dawn, and orcs fall to either side of him. Then one of the creatures is upon him, snarling at the scent of Mannish blood. He shoves Lafdag's shield forward, throwing the orc off balance before its strike can fall, then calmly aims a blow of his own.
:ooc: Axin' it, as described:

:ooc: I'm in Open stance, as usual.
Grimbeorn charges into the mess left by the initial volley, warding off errant blows and ducking the occasional arrow. He finds the leader in the middle of the din, bloodied by one of his companions arrows. He roars a challenge, "Let us finish this!" and clashes with the head man.
:ooc: Grimbeorn moves to Open stance and performs a Targeted Strike with his bonus dice. Parry goes to 19 (9 [base] + 6 [attr] + 4 [shield]).

The sight of orcs working alongside men boiled Rorin's blood. As he charged into the fray, he saw two of the remaining orcs standing shoulder to shoulder stepping back from the onslaught. Rorin's practiced eye analyzed their shoddy armor and form and as expected, their armor and shields were thick but worn and wielded carelessly. Orcs were nothing if not predictable.
:ooc:
Rorin will start in Forward Stance and will use a Sweeping blow against Orc Warriors 10 and 11.

Just need Bandy and I will make the enemy attacks
:ooc:
Shouldn't the TN for Rorin be 12? He is in Forward Stance for a base TN of 6 plus the orc's parry of 6 right?
If that's not the case, then I'd like to retract the advantage die use and burn a hope.
Bandy saw that his companions had moved forward and closed with the raiders. He took careful aim so as to not hit any of his friends and comrades and let fly with another arrow.
