Title: Docking bay encounter - round 3
Post by: tomcat on Dec 16, 2010, 06:28 PM
Situation: Outside the docking bay environmental doors, the party is attacked by the assassin Hacks. Inside the bay, Kara is inside the Aegis.

Situational Modifiers: none

Physical Modifiers: There are crates and other debris available for cover that will deduct a -5 to all attacks made at anyone using cover.

Initiative:
Fett (+14) - 30
Kaida (+11) - 28
Shade (+13) - 19
Brim (+7) - 18
Britton (+9) - 18
Kara (+6) - 12
Sam (+6) - 11
Caden (+5) - 11
Ulric (+7) - 11
Hacks (+6) - 11
Sallo (+13) - 14 (even though he beat out Kara's init, the nat 1 gives hims a last position)

Although Fett and Shade have high init rolls, they are still on the opposite side of the door until next round.

Blaster fire continues to flare back and forth between Hacks and the companions, and it appears that the clone trooper assassin may have his hands full. Suddenly, the bright red flare of a lightsaber can be seen cutting through the large atmospheric door that leads to Docking Bay 12D.

In the landing bay, after seeing her aggressor walk away, Kara commences firing up the engines.

As she moved, Kaida, in her peripheral vision, spotted the hellish glow from the lightsaber's tip cutting through the metal door, and for a heartbeat she merely stared at it blankly. Then realizing what it likely was, she blanched and uttered an oath and then she was off, calling frantically into her comm as she ran, "Guys, we got trouble! Big trouble, coming through the bay door!"

Then she was off running, praying she could get to a location to help put some fire onto the cloner. They had to finish him soon, otherwise with their attention divided they might very well fall prey to whatever was cutting through the door--of course they very well might anyway, she thought as she rounded the speeder and ran towards the heavy lifter.

"Lets finish this clone quickly! Keep the fire on him!"

:ooc:
Standard Action: Move 6 "west"
Move Action: Move 6 "south west" -- aiming toward back of heavy lifter (the red vehicle)
Swift: Inspire Haste on Ulric again

Britton could see a vague glow to his left.  Despite this, he was still dodging shots from the clone, so he moved closer into cover and continued to lay down suppression fire.

Move: Move 4 squares into the cover of the crates*
Standard: Suppress enemy
Roll(1d20)+7: 15+7 Total:22

*How large are the crates and can they be scaled?

Sam sees the Clone in trouble and moves in for the kill. How easy he fell back into the long dormant programming. He moved around the edge of the heavy vehicle to get some separation between himself and Ulric and those moving up behind. It also put some cover between him and whatever was coming through the door - a tactical move, he told himself, not a self-preservation move.

Sam's Actions Round 3
Move - move 6 squares - 3 'south', 3 'west' along edge of vehicle and almost directly north of Hacks
Standard - Attack Hacks with Blaster (PB range)
Blaster Pistol +8, +1 PB Shot feat, +1 Kaida's talent
Rolled 1d20+10 : 15 + 10, total 25

Dmg, if hit
Blaster 3d6+3, +1 PB Shot feat
Rolled 3d6+4 : 6, 3, 3 + 4, total 16

"Come on baby, come on.  Get warmed up we need to get moving."  As Kara warmed up the ship she opened a com channel to Caden and Sam hoping one of them could hear her.

"Guys we got trouble in the hangar there is a guy out here hunting for Kaida.  I shot him once but that didn't take him down, I'm getting the ship warmed up, I'm thinking we need to make a run for it."

:ooc: To Gregg, yes the crates are large enough to climb on top of and there is two levels of stacked crates.

Ulric moves, moves across the road

Hacks was hit again and was knocked back against the wall of the maintenance corridor. His right arm was numb from the damage caused by the hit, the flesh scorched and smoking under his trooepr armor. He used his other arm to unclip a grenade from his belt and slid himself back and in to the corridor, providing complete cover from all those he had made enemies.

Seeing the jedi, Hacks threw the grenade with what strength he had left.

I just read the Inspire Haste details, and it gives the individual a Standard action for a move action in their NEXT turn, so... we have been playing it wrong. Anyway, we'll see what Ulric can do with it next round. By the way, I will allow a Skill check to also be a combat action. That is probably taking things out of balance, but it is fine with me.

The grenade flew at Ulric, but the Jedi saw the small round weapon and reached out with the Force and grabbed it from the air. He gestured and it was cast harmlessly away from the party and himself, exploding near the fallen scaffold.

In the past, Brim had witnessed the combat prowess of the Jedi, and realized the lone trooper was no match for Ulric. He turned back to see if any accomplices were approaching from the rear, and saw the red blade at the same time as Kaida.

Brim called over to Caden. "Let the Jedi finish off the clone. We can't wait for Ulric to get back here and deal with this. We might live if we pour everything we've got at the red blade!"

From his crouched position, Brim took careful aim, waiting for a hole he could shoot through.

:ooc: Ack! Apologies ... I seem to have entirely missed Round 2  :-[ It's that busy time of year ...

Caden turned at the Rodian's comments and ice clutched at his heart seeing the crimson lightsaber that had almost completed its circuit of cutting a hole in the door. He brought his blaster pistol up and aimed it towards the place he knew that death would soon come through.
