Few though they are, Gerold's men are bold and seem quite willing to spill their blood to the last drops before seeing the shame of orcish thralldom visited upon their kinfolk. Like a pack of boars, they and the orcs facing them crash together, to the ragged cheering of the prisoners on the hillside, just as one of the brutes surrounding Hathcyn turns to face Gwaithlim as the Elf rushes forward, hot-blooded and with sword in hand.
:ooc: The orcs attack! It's still two on one at this stage, but that will change next round as Esgalwen and Luindîs arrive.

:ooc: Hathcyn is moderately lucky, losing four Endurance. Confirm for me if you would please, Tom, but I believe he is now Weary. Gwaithlim loses a total of 12 Endurance and needs a Protection test (TN12):
:00: 1d12 : 3, total 3
Rolled 3d6 : 5, 6, 3, total 14
:ooc: Having gone away to calculate, Gwaithlim is also Weary.
I'm a little swamped at the moment, so I'll leave the details of the narrative to you guys for this one. I should be good for the next round in a day or two.
:ooc: weary seems accurate to me.
Winded and sore, keeping a single orc at bay taxes Hathcyn's abilities, and a second proves too much, forcing him back against a large stone and leaving him with a jagged cut on his arm that soon leaves his sleeve soaked and red. Gwaithlim, less battle-wise despite his long years of life, is taken aback by the savagery of the orcs and left reeling from a pair of blows to his chest and belly from swords that seem to flick and bite like whips.
About them, all is a wild din of wordless snarls and shouts, and the clangour of iron on iron as the fate of all in the skirmish hangs in the balance.
:ooc: Over to you guys for your actions...
Weary and fatigued, bleeding and sore, the Beorning struck again at the foes before him.
The leaf bladed spear struck viciously at the Whooping Orc.
"Here is a something worthy of your gullet. Your cries will echo in the void this day."
Rolled 1d12 : 6, total 6
Rolled 4d6 : 2, 5, 3, 6, total 16
Though the force of Gwaithlim's headlong charge has been broken by the orcs, he refuses to submit in fear like a beaten cur. Instead, he raises high his sword and cries out the name of the star-kindler. "
A Elbereth Gilthoniel!"
:ooc: Gwaithlim is going to Intimidate the orcs, if he can:
:00: 1d12 : 10, total 10
Rolled 2d6 : 4, 3, total 7
The Elf's voice sounds on the hillside like a tolling bell, and Hathcyn uses the orcs' momentary distraction to drive his spear into the belly of the orc nearest him, finding a weak spot in the creature's rag-tag mail and spilling its dark blood on the soil.
:ooc: Hathcyn gets a very solid hit in for 14 total Endurance loss (unless you tell me after your roll, I'm going to assume that you're using a :%: for extra damage rather than anythign special). Gwaithlim's Intimidate roll is also successful (just) for two Hate loss among the orcs, leaving the Torn-mouthed and Black-helmed orcs without Hate points, and thus Weary.
:ooc: sic semper orcus
:ooc: Extra damage is good, get those craven, sadistic creatures gone.
