As fleet as they are, as doggedly as they run and as close as they have come, when the terrible event happens, the Fellowship can no more stop it than they could change the course of a tragedy in some far-away country that they might learn of only through travellers' tidings. And yet they can see so awfully, awfully clearly as an orc gathers the strength of its thick-muscled arms before, with a feral snarl, it slashes its sword across the belly of an old crone who backs away too slowly to avoid her doom.
Blood, bright red against the pale grass and grey stones, spatters everything nearby and no sooner has the jeering of the captives turned to terrified screaming than the other orcs, their leashes slipped, leap likewise to the kill, hacking and hewing at their former thralls. As Hathcyn watches, a beardless boy is cut down, and a thick-set woman, her hair already matted and dark from an old wound to her head.
As unstoppably as the fall of a cut-down tree, this nameless hillside is becoming the scene of a massacre.
Gwaithlim cries out against the slaughter of innocents. "We will make them pay!" The fire within his form rages like it hasn't in an age. Wanton destruction and killing burn against his core.
:ooc: He is both Enemy of Sauron and Fierce, he will do whatever it takes to avenge them! Get there faster, whatever.
:ooc: Stirring words! But let's not forget that the Shadow uses matters like this to sicken the souls of the Free Peoples. Everyone needs to make a Corruption test (TN 14) or gain a Shadow point. Hathcyn will pick up two Shadow if he fails, because this is fairly directly
his fault.

Luindîs' lungs burn with the effort but no faster can she go, and the horror of what she sees makes her head swim. This is not the way... not the way it was supposed to go... How can I sing of this in the glades of the wood?
:ooc: That's a point for Luindîs alone.
