Title: Round 2 - Convergence

Situation: The Romulan Constitution mock-up is currently engaging an aged and damaged D6 cruiser and the Columbia. I will be rolling initiative for each round and for each NPC ship.

D6 status: Shields at 60%; Weapons and Move maneuvers will be at a -5 penalty with a potential system breakdown on any failure (System Reliabilty test TN 8 failure; TN 12 on Complete Failure; TN 15 on Disastrous Failure)

Starting Ranges: All ships are currently at Long range from one another

Situational Modifiers and Conditional Rules: The CODA system makes no reference to weapon re-charge and so I am going to apply the following rules:


So if you fire your photon torpedoes in round 1, you cannot fire again until round 3 - so be careful when you plan multiweapon fire maneuvers.

Carryover bonuses: Columbia has Lock On to Romulan +3; D6 has a Lock On to Romulan +3; Romulan has Lock On to D6 +3

Initiative:
Romulans - Roll(2d6)+7: 2,4,+7 Total:13
Klingons - Roll(2d6)+5: 1,3,+5 Total:9
Federation - 15




On the Columbia, the bridge crew watched as the Klingon disruptors struck the connie and wondered what affect they had achieved. Pushkin settled into his seat and prepared to maneuver the vessel; Stonn read through his scan to determine if there were any weaknesses to be exploited; Grahm looked ot his captain with his hands poised to unleash the Columbia's deadly weapons; and Darkan sat in his chair - the weight of command resting on his shoulders.

Townshend called out, "Captain, the encrypted message from Vrang is completley packaged and ready for transmission."

On the viewscreen, the Romulan vessel changed her course and brought her weapons to bear on the Federation ship.

Stonn looked up from his viewer and turned toward the Captain.
"Sir, their plasma torpedo is fully charged and ready. We will be in increasing danger the closer we get, and the Klingon vessel may be all but defenseless against it."

He let that sink in for a brief moment and continued.
"Their are roughly 85 life forms aboard - an exact reading is difficult due to the charged plasma weapon - so it stands to reason that the vessel does not have all the redundancies and hardened systems that an authentic Starfleet vessel would, or it would be extremely difficult to operate with a crew of only one-quarter normal.

"This vessel was built for deception, not combat."

"Transmit as soon as you're ready, Ms. Townshend."  Turning to his other officers, "Let's take it out of the fight quickly.  Fire as ordered, Mr. Grahm."

"Aye aye, sir," answered the Tactical officer. Grahm touched the fire control button on his console and above the bridge, on the Columbia's rollbar, photon torpedoes streaked forth. They flared red on the viewscreen as they raced towards the Romulan mock-up and struck it on the targeted plasma launcher.



[OOC:] Matt, because you want Grahm to only use Torpedoes, he cannot use the Target System Maneuver (per Starships). So, I am just using the basic Fire Maneuver for this round.

Maneuver 1: Fire TN 14
Sys Ops +11, Specialty +2, Lock On +3, Tac Man Mod +2, Range mod -3 = +15
Roll(2d6)+15: 5,6,+15 Total:26 EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS [Shield strength reduced by 3 (down to 60%); Shield Protection reduced by 1 (down to 13); Threshold overcome by 1 - applied 1 point to structure]

Maneuver 2: Held until the Romulan acts

Romulans' Manuevers and actions:

Romulans drop the lock on the Gr'Toth (no action cost)

Romulans attempt to put up an electronic screen to aid in thier defense (ECM)
Sys Ops (Sensors) +10, Specialty +2 = +12
Roll(2d6)+12: 4,1,+12 Total:17 [bonus to ship's protection will be determined based upon degre of success against Stonn's opposed roll]

Maneuver 1: Close TN 10
Sys Ops (Helm) +8, Specialty +2 = +10
Roll(2d6)+10: 2,6,+10 Total:18 SUPERIOR SUCCESS [The Connie races in 3 range lengths from Long to Point Blank]

Maneuver 2: Fire Plasma Torpedo at Columbia TN 13
Sys Ops (Tactical) +9, Specialty +2, Tac man mod +3, Range mod +1 = +15
Roll(2d6)+15: 2,6,+15 Total:23 SUPERIOR SUCCESS [The Columbia is hit - shields reduced by 2 (down to 80%); threshold overcome by 3 and applied to structure]

Stonn needs to give me an opposed Sys Ops (Sensor) test against the 17 rolled above - this will count as 1 Action for Stonn.

OOC: If it is deemed acceptable to attack twice, we can do so; otherwise, we'll wait to see if the Romulan ship moves and react to keep it at no closer than long range while staying near the Klingon ship.

EDIT: Sorry, ignore the previous statement...

Maneuver #2: Hard About, moving the 1 increment closer or away from the Romulan ship depending on their movement

[OOC:] Seppun, this is you... do you want to make the tests for this maneuver, or do you prefer I do it? If you have not posted by tomorrow, I am going to give the maneuver to Darrin (Billy Anderson).

If you do not know, the TN for the test is 15.

Roll(2d6)+5: 1,6,+5 Total:12 [can move up to 2 range increments away]



Korvona's ship raced in to point blank range where it released the terrible plasma torpedo on the Columbia. The Federation vessel had no way to evade but its shields still held against the onslaught though some of the weapon's destructive power exceeded the shield's threshold.

Inside the ship, the bridge lights flickered and went to all red; a panel burst off to Darkan's right and one of his staff again were knocked back stunned. Darkan yelled out his command to come hard about and again the viewscreen flashed with the light of phaser fire.

Vrang shouted the fire command and his vessel fired upon the now close Romulan. He smiled as the Gr'Toth struck again, but the Constitution mock-up did not appear to be affected by his attack. The Klingon realized that the proximity of the combatants made his situation precarious, "Open some room between us and them."

The Gr'Toth limped its way a little further from her enemy.

   (ooc: Sorry, I have had a problem with my legs, so I really haven't been feeling up to researching what I needed to do. :( )

     IC: Pushkin's hands fly across the console as the Captain gives his command. "Aye, Sir. Hard About."  He looks to his instruments and glances to the viewscreen, using the two as he starts to move the ship into position.  Now it is time to show the Romulans what a real Federation starship can do. 

   Maneuver 2: Hard About TN  15
    Sys Ops +12, Specialty +2, Dazed -1 = +13
    Roll (3d6) (Evasive Manuevers Roll 3, keep best 2): 5, 5 +13 Total: 23.  [Columbia moves one hex away and breaks any lock or adds +5 to protection for the round]

[OOC:] Excellent Seppun! Thanks for the post... forgot about the Evasive maneuvers ability. This is definitely why I need you guys to be there as players cause I forget about all of the nice extras that the character may have.  ;)
