Title: Prison attack - round 13

Situation: The party is split up - five on the second floor of the prison (Logar, Britton, Kaida, Sam and Kara) and one on the third floor (Brim), and Caden flies the Aegis above the prison; the troopers attack again.

Team Alpha 2 - 2 Regular troopers (S22 and S25), 2 heavy troopers (H9-10), 1 Officer (O5), and ISBO Falken Wright (ready to attack into prison area)

Team Alpha 3 - 4 Regular troopers (S11-14), 1 heavy troopers (H5), 1 Officer (O3) (incapacitated - all unconscious in prison level 2)
Team Alpha 1 - destroyed
Team Alpha 4 - destroyed
Team Alpha 5 - destroyed



Situational Modifiers: Logar is at CT -1

Kaida saw the imperials round the corner down the hallway and cursed. "Frak! More imps!" She raised her gun to shoot but Sam was in her line of sight and she shook her head in frustration and instead jogged a few feet across the hallway to the fallen trooper there, talking into her comm as she gathered up any equipment she could. "We need to extract now! Quickly, into the kitchen and up the ladder! Caden should be waiting on the roof!"

Move action: She moves south three squares to the fallen trooper and checks out his equipment. What style gun does he have?
Standard and Swift actions: She collects any grenades first, and power packs second, off the fallen trooper as much as her standard and swift actions allow.

Britton knew that they had been lucky so far. Now it was time to get the hell out of there. He reached down at his feet to quickly grab any easily obtained power packs or grenades and then being the farthest away ran for the kitchen.

Sam saw the new Imperials through the door and agreed with Kaida's suggestion. He looked at his friends who were in the thick of it. They had to get moving and couldn't sustain much more punishment. Britton raced past him on his way to the kitchen and Sam did some mental math. One ladder and five bodies would take some time even with their haste. He ducked back inside the kitchen and readied his blaster to hold them off if he had to.

Sam will move to the square inside the kitchen, just east of the doorway.

Kara continued to fire her blaster, hoping they could take down the last few troops in front of them.  She knew that every second that they were in this place, the more likely they were to not come out alive.

Logar may loot what he wants from the officer's items below, and he moves to the kitchen
(blaster pistol, code cylinder, comlink (encrypted), officer's uniform)

Britton and Sam move to the kitchen

Brim continues to cut around the circumfrence of the hatch

MOVE - All imperials move to their new positions, save Falken who stands there and orders them in

O5 activates Born Leader with his Swift action and gives his Standard action to H10 with Trust

S25 and H9 throw grenades at point C on the map

S25 throws 1d20+3 : 20 + 3, total 23

S25 damage if successful, half if not 4d6 : 4, 4, 6, 2, total 16

H9 throws 1d20+3 : 19 + 3, total 22

H9 damage if successful, half if not 4d6 : 2, 4, 1, 3, total 10


H10 autofires on Kara Sala twice with two Standard actions

attack 1 1d20+4 : 6 + 4, total 10

attack 2 1d20+4 : 20 + 4, total 24

attack 1 damage if successful, half if not 3d8+1 : 4, 6, 5 + 1, total 16

Kara felt great pain sweep over her body as she was hit by the wild blaster fire.  She fired her blaster at the trooper who shot her and tried to run away.

:ooc: Man! Forgot to paint it in red, but damn! Two crits on the attacks... here is how it will work out:

Both grenades land in place (one critically)

The critical grenade auto hits and does 2x the damage for 32; the other grenade attack needs fixed as that trooper actually gets the +5 to attack and overcomes Sam's REF score and does 10 to him, but only 5 to Britton. So...

Sam 42 damage, reduced to 18 HP, CT -1  :csu:
Britton 37 damage  :csu:

Sorry Tom... Britton is blown back by the 32 damage which reduces him to 0 hit points AND overcomes his Damage Threshold which is an instant kill. I know he wasn't your PC, you had taken over playing him, so I welcome you to think up a new character for our story. I truly am sorry - not my intent to kill anyone... well, I guess it was the stormtroopers intent.  :(

Attacks on Kara do the following...

Attack 1 does half for 8 damage, but the critical (attack 2) is an auto hit and does 2x damage or 24 ... total 32

Kara 32 damage, reduced to 7 HP,CT -1  :csu:



It was coming to an end.

Falken knew it. He looked through the doors at the attackers as they ran towards the kitchen. He knew what was in there - a way out. Either up or down, they would be able to escape this floor and his men would have to re-rally to get into a position to attack again. Because they were running for the kitchen, he could only assume that prison elevator was out of commission.

It was now or never.

Falken ordered his last squad to attack, "GO! NOW! GIVE THEM EVERYTHING WE HAVE!"

The troopers and their officer ran in to attack. The retreating intruders had made it to cover and so two of the troopers reached for explosives in hopes to drop the weapons into the kitchen entrance. Grenades were plucked from utility belts and blasters were brought up to fire. The grenades were perfectly placed, while the heavy trooper bringing up the rear laid down terrible fire on the only person he saw exposed - Kara Sala.

Sam and Britton had just made it into the kitchen when the troopers ran in to attack. The grenades landed a mere meter from where they stood and exploded. Britton took the blast to his back and he was blown off his feet, only to land amongs the kitchen's appliances. He did not move, nor would he ever again.

The droid also was caught in the blast and felt the shrapnel tear into his body plating and into the circuitry hidden beneath. Sam staggered but kept his feet, all the while his processor screaming within as it calculated system damage.

Kara, too, was heavily inundated by the light repeating blaster's autofire. She felt as her body took multiple hits and gave out a scream of pain from the scoring heat.

 :ooc: Poor Britton. There is a way out, if we're using Destiny Points. GM's call as to whether or not we're using Destiny Points. Page 113, 2nd bullet item in list, of Core book says Destiny can automatically cause an attack made against you to miss (even once the attack is resolved).

Also, didn't see this earlier. On page 147 on Damage Threshold under "Spending a Force Point". If you are reduced to 0 HPs by an attack that deals damage equal to or greater than your damage threshold, you can avoid death by immediately spending a Force Point, even if you spent a Force Point earlier this round. A character who spends a Force Point in this fashion remains at 0 HPs, moves -5 steps along the condition track, and falls unconscious."

:ooc: Hey Jingo, all of these rules are sound per the book, and I offered Telcontar the options to use them and he likes how the scene played out. It is the first blood of the revolution!

Anyway, we will keep these options for any future character fatalities, but Britton is dead.
