With torches crackling in hand, the companions proceeded into the entrance of the cave.
:ooc: I have updated the map in Roll20 for your visual.
:ooc: Is there updated conditions/enemies, etc. above?
:ooc: that is why I set up the Roll20 virtual table - so you guys could see and interact with how your PC (token) is advancing. I can just continue to add situational pics, if that is easier.
Arbogast casts his torch before him, marking as he does the shifting of the air inside the cave and the hissing of the flame as it strikes the floor, as if the lair itself were reacting to a sudden and unanticipated pain. He takes his position beside Grimbeorn and, striking axe on shield, cries out "come, curs, and face our fire if you dare, else slink back forever into the darkness beneath the world!"
:ooc: Arbogast will start off in Forward stance, and kick off with an Intimidate action. I'm happy to target the wargs if that's all that's there, but what I'm really trying to do is knock some points off the Lair score.
Let's see how we go rolling Battle...
:00: 1d12 : 11, total 11
Rolled 3d6 : 2, 1, 6, total 9
:ooc: Well, shit.
Arbogast's taunt seems subdued by the cave - instead of echoing and amplified, it was as if the challenge were swallowed whole.
Not wanting her friend's cry to be alone, Esgalwen also yelled out.
"Be ready foul creatures, the might of the Noldor is before you, still allied with the Blood of the Faithful! T'is a day of ruin for you, lest you run."
:ooc: Esgalwen intimidates
TN 18 awe 2d:00: 1d12 : 6, total 6
Rolled 2d6 : 5, 3, total 8
Esgalwen, too, was muted.
In his torch light, Morirúsë could see a shadow move in the faint glow. It was massive, like that of a horse.
While he stared at it, two wargs raced in to attack on his companions.
:ooc: Actually - she will try an advantage die
Rolled 1d6 : 3, total 3
:ooc: Damn...
The wargs attack:
Warg 2 attacks EsgalwenTN 15 bite 3d:00: 1d12 : 6, total 6
Rolled 3d6 : 5, 6, 6, total 17
Warg 4 attacks GrimbeornTN 25 bite 3d:00: 1d12 : 10, total 10
Rolled 3d6 : 6, 5, 4, total 15
:dmg: 8 edge: 10 injury: 14
:ooc: WOW!
I am not sure this is the best plan for these heroes...the dice are just killing it, so far.
• Esgalwen is hit with a 23 :%: :%: for 18 :<3: loss
• Grimbeorn is hit with a 25 :%: for 13 :<3: loss, and must make a protection test TN 14
Protection testTN 14 armour 2d:00: 1d12 : 12, total 12
Rolled 2d6 : 3, 1, total 4
Grimbeorn sees the incoming.attack and braces for the defense of his companions while.seeking his opening to strike.
:ooc:
Stance - Defensive, Action - Protect Companion (Esgalwen)
:ooc: I thought Defensive Stance with the shield had Grimbeorn at greater than 25, like 27.
Never mind, that's with Defensive fighting action included.
:ooc: where is the map on roll20? I've never used it before. Defensive stance.
The elfwas quiet and patient, two traits he had seldom personified.
:ooc:
Okay, Grimbeorn spends 1 :vv: and negates the hit on Esgalwen. Nice!
He gets hit though for the above :<3: loss
Tom, the virtual table is in the Roll20 game room. Login and then click Launch Game for DoM.
:ooc: Doug, do Grimbeorn and Morirúsë now get a chance to act? Grimbeorn's taking the hit for Esgalwen is, I believe, something he can do in addition to a regular action.
Once more Grimbeorn throws himself into the defense of his companions, only to feel the warg's bite tear into his own flesh. Surprised at his shield being there to knock away her attacker, Esgalwen quickly rights herself and slashes with Nimronyn.
:ooc:
Esgalwen attacks Warg 2TN 12 longsword 4d:00: 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 4d6 : 6, 1, 5, 3, total 15
:dmg: 11 edge: 8 injury: 18
:ooc: that is a kill
:ooc: Put me in, coach! I'm ready to play!
I think this is just the time for Kolbeinn, Hobson, Tate and their little hunting party from Dale to burst on the scene!
We're waiting in the wings, should you need some NPCs! ;D
The elf bounded forward to strike a blow at the remaining warg.
Rolled 1d12 : 4, total 4
Rolled 5d6 : 3, 3, 5, 2, 1, total 14
:ooc: that is a miss
The Beorning responds in kind with his own blow.
:ooc:
:00:
Axes - 1d12 : 3, total 3
Rolled 4d6 : 5, 3, 1, 1, total 10
:ooc: we all know what that means.... two more :~~: :~~: coming up next round! (-D
:ooc: One more - Esgalwen put her warg down pretty handily.
EDIT: Which means, given that she also failed to intimidate anything early in the round, that Arbogast probably gets another action! .
:ooc: I messed up - Esgalwen wasn't allowed that attack due to her intimidate.
:ooc: Aaaaaaaaaaaand we're back to two :~~: s.
