The Black Uruk named Slurg, raced to meet the woman that raged towards him. The Dúnadan woman's keen sword flashed in the shadows of the woods.

Behind her, the Silvan Elf's bow sung once more.

:ooc: Scratch that on the Advantage die usage - I forgot she gets a +1 success die whenever she fights in a Forward stance

Esgalwen does 12 endurance to Slurg

:ooc: This game is supposed to be about player narrative when the dice results are given, and I am not opposed to that at all, but I think in PbP format it will be hard to wait on players to wait on the results of their rolls from me, only then to post what their attack or action did. So, in some case like this, I will provide the narrative. If any of you have a change, or an addition, feel free to give it to me in your next post.

Cool?

Rorin slams the Orc Guard with a :g: 21 roll! His weapon is 8 damage, 10 edge, and 18 injury... so,

Orc guard loses 8 Endurance and has to make a TN 18 Protection test:

:ooc: I forgot to add his Attribute Level to his Protection test, which is 4, but he still failed...

Bandobras Bracegirdle was pleased when he saw his arrow strike the goblin archer that stood across from him among the trees. It squawked as the thin Hobbit arrow took it in the shoulder.

At the same moment, Rorin raced up to stand by Esgalwen's side. The Dwarf's massive hammer in motion and being wielded like it was naught but a wood mallet instead of hafted steel. Rorin hated orcs. They were the bane of his folk and his blood still boiled at the memory of them swarming the field before the gates of Erebor.

He spun the hammer in a wide arc over his head and brought it down on the skull cap of the orc leader named Kor. There was a terrible crunching sound and a croak from the throat of Kor, as his neck was smashed downward. The orc collapsed dead, its companions looking on wide-eyed at the terrible wrath that was Rorin, Dwarf of Erebor!

:ooc: I just re-read things and I see that you have Rorin attacking Orc Soldier 1...well, I am leaving it as is cause I rolled out all the stuff for Orc Guard (Kor), and you still kicked his ass.

So, it stays as its played!

As the carnage erupts around him, Arbogast hefts his axe, narrows his eyes and advances on one of the orc soldiers.  The time has come to put some battering to his new shield...

:ooc: DC 13 Long-Hafted Axe 3

Rolled 1d12 : 12, total 12

'{:dmg:}damage 5, Edge  :g:, Injury 18' is not a valid dice string!

And just as an aside, a Reinforced shield adds an extra +1 to a character's Parry (p 115), so Arbogast's total bonus is +3.

Grimbeorn in his rage goes for the neck of the first Orc he sees and buries the blade its putrid body.

An orc meets Arbogast's eyes and charges, bellowing with Shadow-fuelled rage.  Before it can swing its bent sword, though, the Woodman shifts his footing and the orc trips on an unseen root.  Arbogast's axe follows it down...

:ooc: Results for Arbogast and Grimbeorn:

Arbogast slams the Orc soldier with a :g: 21 roll! His weapon is 5 damage,  :g:  edge, and 18 injury... so

Orc soldier (1) loses 5 Endurance and has to make a TN 18 Protection test:

Orc soldier (2) takes 9 +6 = 15 Endurance loss

:ooc: Even though the orc rolled an  :~~: , it is actually their beneficial dice, so he passes his protection roll.

Now it is the orc's attack - give me some time to get this set up.

Since it just became necessary (stupid armour!) I'll quickly point out that my great success warrants an extra 2 damage.

:ooc: You know I looked all through the book to see if the :g: gave a higher degree of success and determined, no, only when you roll a 6  :%: ! I looked at it the whole time and never saw the damn  :%: ! (-D

Yes, you did another 2 points of endurance loss!

The goblin archers that stood to the rear of the combat began to quaver as they watched three of their companions instantly slain by the charging heroes. But still the large black Uruk, Slurg, stood strong as he brought his shield and sword down on the human woman. They let their arrows fly once more past the crowded melee and at the enemy archers beyond.

Slurg growled at Esgalwen, his chest covered with a black ichor from where she slashed. "I am going to eat your heart, girl! You will wish that you had never come to this place! Maybe instead I will just remove the pretty steel from your hand and take you to HIM!"

His powerful arms flexed as he bashed and slashed.

The other orc warriors maintained their line, even those that had followed the now dead Kor, into these woods.

:ooc: Well, that's a HUGE whiff for the orcs.

I posted Orophin's TN wrong - should have been a 19, but it didn't matter.

On to a new round.
