Title: Mansion attack - round 7
Post by: tomcat on Oct 04, 2009, 03:48 PM
Situation: Ranie's mansion is attacked. Caden and Sam are hovering over the drive, as the villains and now the heroes are leaving the mansion (2 rounds left until the building slides over the cliff - the Aegis' laser cannon caused the house to shift more).

Situational Modifiers: none.

Physical Modifiers: It is night time and -2 darkness penalty applies for all actions (n/a for Med Facility) unless the PC has special ability/equipment (troopers have low-light vision headgear); any map corner that represents a wall may be used as cover; furnishings will offer limited cover based on the weapon

Initiative:
Britton (+9-1) 26
Shade (+13) 22
Kara (+5) 22
Sam (+5) 20
Caden (+4) 20
Hacks (+6-1) 17
Brim (+6-1) 12

Britton had moved up the hallway trying to exit the mansion. He was almost there save he was blocked by Hacks, the trooper trying to maintain his feet as the house rocked and quaked. Behind both, the Senator and his two remaining guards struggled to make their way down the stairs.

The Shade looked at the hole that once was the place where one of his troopers stood, and then brought his eyes up to the ship hovering above him. Anger filled the darksider and he desired nothing more than to Force leap to the ship's outer hull and plunge his saber into its cockpit. But Shade knew better, and had lived this long not being so reckless. He quickly drew a cloud about him with the Force and raced towards the treeline to escape the mansion grounds.

Britton was so done with this trooper who had been nothing but a pain in his backside since this fiasco started.  Pitilessly training his gun once more on his foe Britton pulled the trigger, hoping to end his foes life before he could use his grenade to hurt anyone else.

:ooc: Sorry, even with reflex reduction due to condition, the 20 missed - you need a 22.

Shade draws a Force Haze around himself to disappear
Swift -
deactivate his lightsaber
Standard - spends a Force Point to enact power
Move - walks quickly into the woods

:ooc: Does Sam, Kara or Caden want to perform their actions prior to me conducting Hacks'?

:ooc: I don't think so. Caden's just trying to keep the ship steady so Sam can fire at their attackers.

:ooc: Sorry, I didn't think Sam had any visible targets left, but after reading the Force Haze talent I see he has a chance to beat it.

Sam picks up his scanning to try and locate the lightsaber-wielder (a dark Jedi?). He tries to filter through the smoke and debris from his previous shot and sees he has seemed to disappear.
Sam's Will defense vs. Force Haze
Base Will Def +20 (any bonuses for the ship's sensors, or enhancements?)

:ooc: If Sam has an attack, he will fire on the Shade again

Sam's actions (if possible)
2 Swift actions Aim x2
Standard Action Fire Aegis' belly turret:
d20 +6 +1 = 12 +7 = 19

Even with the Aegis's sensors, Sam was unable to pinpoint the darksider below. It was as if the man, or whatever he was, had just disappeared.

Ignoring the security guard in front of him, Hacks looked to his true target that had just come down to the bottom of the stairs and tossed his grenade. It bounced once, a few feet in front of Ranie, and then exploded. Fortunately for the senator and his protective staff, it wasn't close enough to kill. Still, the trio were knocked off their feet and sent sprawling with various, minor wounds.

Britton watched as the assassin then ran out the door and cut right, denying him any shot.

At the opposite end of Ranie's mansion, Brim ran out the door with his burden and into the treeline. He looked for a safe place to wait the rest of the confrontation out, and to also set down Dan's body.

After dropping Dan's inert form into the trees on the opposite side of the drive, Brim turned to scan the front of the house, looking for those emerging who might need help, and listening for anyone calling who might still be caught inside.

The explosion from inside the main house was bound to mean trouble for someone, so the Rodian headed that way, wary of any other shooters who might be nearby.

:ooc: Does he spot Hacks?

:ooc: Hey Brian, yes, he does see a figure race out of the far end of the mansion. I am going under the assumption that the Aegis is flodding the driveway area with its landing lights.

But once he gets into the wood line, you will need to beat his Stealth roll with a Perception test.
