Title: Mansion attack - round 5
Post by: tomcat on Sep 26, 2009, 07:08 PM
Situation: Ranie's mansion is attacked. Caden and Sam have fired up the Aegis and are flying to the driveway area of the compound (this will take a total of 4 rounds, starting at round 2, to fire up the ship, move it and set it down - and yes, Shawn, there is plenty of room on the drive. Ranie had the platform set away from his property to reduce noise. So, starting round 6, the Aegis will be landed, or hovering, on/over the drive.)

Situational Modifiers: none.

Physical Modifiers: It is night time and -2 darkness penalty applies for all actions (n/a for Med Facility) unless the PC has special ability/equipment (troopers have low-light vision headgear); any map corner that represents a wall may be used as cover; furnishings will offer limited cover based on the weapon

Initiative:
Shade (+13) 20
Britton (+9) 16
Jasper (+6) 14
Hacks (+6) 14
Brim (+6) 12
Qinos (+8-1) 8
Sam and Caden - n/a, hovering the ship over the drive (1 more rounds to land)

Jaspers explosives go off:

Strut 1: Roll(17d6)+0: 2,2,5,1,2,3,4,6,3,1,3,4,2,1,3,4,3,+0 Total:49
Strut 2: Roll(17d6)+0: 6,5,3,2,2,4,1,4,1,4,5,3,4,6,4,3,6,+0 Total:63
Strut 3: Roll(17d6)+0: 5,1,2,1,6,6,3,3,3,6,1,3,6,2,4,6,3,+0 Total:61
Strut 4: Roll(17d6)+0: 5,3,1,2,1,3,5,5,1,4,1,6,5,5,5,2,1,+0 Total:55
Strut 5: Roll(17d6)+0: 2,1,1,5,4,6,4,3,6,5,5,5,1,4,6,2,4,+0 Total:64
Strut 6: Roll(17d6)+0: 3,2,3,5,2,1,5,5,2,3,4,4,1,5,2,5,5,+0 Total:57
Strut 7: Roll(17d6)+0: 1,4,5,6,4,2,5,4,5,5,5,2,5,1,3,4,1,+0 Total:62
Strut 8: Roll(17d6)+0: 6,6,4,1,4,1,1,4,2,2,4,6,3,1,6,6,4,+0 Total:61
Strut 9: Roll(17d6)+0: 5,6,3,3,5,5,4,5,5,3,5,4,3,1,2,4,3,+0 Total:66
Strut 10: Roll(17d6)+0: 1,1,3,2,2,1,5,6,6,2,2,3,4,4,5,6,1,+0 Total:54

The Aegis roared over the tree tops and Caden flared her out as she swooped above the mansions large driveway. The man could easily see that there was room to accomodate a landing... it was then that a series of bright flashes erupted from the opposite side of Ranie's home!

The charges that had been attached to the mansion's support struts were shaped explosives. Hacks had designed the demolitions so they would release the better percent of energy in a single direction - primarily, into the stuts on which they were attached. The result desired was for the explosives to sheer through each support, and allow gravity to do the rest.

Inside the house, the staccato sound of rippling explosions deafened everyone. The mansion shook from end to end as its structural supports were exposed to more energy than they were made to endure, and those within were thrown to the floor. For any that could still hear, a terrible groaning began to emanate from the house.

:ooc: All PC's in the house must make a Reaction Acrobatics roll DC 15 to stay on their feet after the explosions.

:ooc: Gee, did I miss?
Unfortunately the explosion, while not knocking him off his feet had thrown him off his game and the shot horribly missed.

Caden saw the detonations along the struts and instantly knew what was happening - Kal's home was going over the side. They had gotten in too deep; these weren't street gangsters - they were going after religious and political leaders. Kal, Kex, his friends - and all his new companions... how many might he lose today? If they lived through this, he had half a mind to head for the sky and never return.

He caught a glimpse of what appeared to be - a lightsaber? - flashing upon the roof, only for a moment. Caden wasn't sure; he hadn't seen one before up close, and wasn't in any hurry to, either. Blaster fire could be seen in some of the windows.

He hit the comlink, his voice straining. "Sam, the mansion's collapsing - it's under attack! Get on the gun - we'll need to cover any of our people that get out of there. I'll take us low across the top towards the front side."

Brim: DC 15 Acrobatics (+6)
Roll(1d20)+6: 11,+6 Total:17

Brim managed to stay on his feet as the floor shook beneath them. "Time to go, Dan", he yelled over the groaning sounds of the doomed house. Grabbing his friend by the sleeve, the Rodian ran towards the closest exit to the drive at the front of the medical facility.

Jasper pushed open the front door and ran out into the night. The roar of the Aegis quickly caught his attention, and the clone moved quickly for the cover of the woods surrounding Ranie's home. Inside the house, Hacks backed away from Britton, firing as he did.

Hacks fires on Britton
Move
- slowly moving backwards, but keeping both stairs down from level 2, and up from sub-level covered.
Swift - none.
Standard - takes a Rapid Shot (2 shots with 1 atk, -2 penalty, +1 die of damage)
(http://rpg.avioc.org/boards/Themes/default/images/dice.gif) Britton 22 RC +9, Rapid Shot -2

Roll(1d20)+7: 20,+7 Total:27 OUCH! Sorry Gregg! [Damage 4d8+4 x2 = Roll(4d8)+4: 1,2,1,6,+4 Total:14 x2 = 28]

:ooc: Britton is reduced to 2 HP and moves down to -1 on the condition track.

Kara moved from the bathroom to the table quickly and pulled her modified blaster out and headed to the door.  Looking out the door carefully, she tried to hear where the sound of blaster fire was coming from and move in that direction.

Sam finished grabbing his gear from the lockup and took the gunner's position. He was unfamiliar with the Heavy Weapons of the Aegis and plugged into the ship's sensors hoping the direct link could offset some of his incompetence as he sequences up the guns to engage any targets.

:ooc: Sam has the -5 non-proficiency penalty. Can an interface with the ship computer (and his Improved Sensors package - +2 Perception) help reduce this at all?

:ooc: I wouldn't worry about it too much; the house is tipping over anyway, and if you get a crack at a bad guy... well, that's a big gun; you won't exactly have to have to hit him right between the eyes. ;)

Basically, if you can just make a big mess, that might be enough.  (-D
