As he moves into position to block the mouth of the tunnel, Arbogast sees what may be a vulnerable spot between two chitinous plates on what may be the Thing's throat. Summoning his courage...

No strength of the heroes of elder ages has he, to smite it down with a single blow, but he takes a wild satisfaction in the clear, almost sap-like substance that oozes from the edges of the creature's new wound. His heart skips a beat, however, when he sees the creature's savage attack upon his friend and companion, swallowing his axe-arm down to the shoulder. The Son of Beorn rips his limb free, but it is bloodied and torn on the teeth of this burrower beneath the world.
Hathcyn makes his way away from the beast to set up the next position.

His foot unsteady he is able to make little progress.
Grimbeorn holds his ground from the vicious attack; they must succeed at this venture! Altering his stance, he moves to the defensive, making him a harder target to hit, while looking for a target of opportunity.
